sorry to say, 2OA this year is probably the lowest in terms of adjusted value compared to other years, the lack of adequate games and scouting makes this a horrible year to evaluate talent. safe to say 2OA next year is worth 1.5* this years.
Think bigger. Next year has Michkov after Bedard, which basically has potential to be an Ovechkin/Malkin quality top 2.

This year is a lot more like 2017 Hischier/Patrick (note, I'm not saying number 2 will be a bust by any stretch, but far from a sure thing).

#2 in 2023 is worth probably more than 5x what #2 is this year.

The 2nd overall is going to Vancouver in a package for Quinn Hughes.

Quinn is going to submit a trade request to play with his brothers.

Its only logical reason why NJ would move the 2nd overall to Vancouver for.

Theres also Fantilli in Chicago if you want more potatoes.

Speaking of, don't know why the uproar with trading Luke Hughes to Vancouver, if there is one team that Jack would fully approve of trading his little brother to, its to Vancouver dont you think?

If I have to chose a place to raise a family........

Yeah let’s trade his brother to his other brother’s team so Jack dips out to join them first chance he gets. Great team management. Either you’re being naïve or you’re pulling used car salesmen tactics.

NJD publicly expressed they are ready to be competitive and are open to trading their 1st round pick. This was of course when they thought they were drafting around 5th instead of 2nd.

However, lets just humor the idea that NJD hasnt changed their stance and are tired of always drafting high and want to be competitive now and not risk the reality of having their core grow into a losing culture.

What would a a trade look like with the foundation of Miller ( extended) for 2nd OA pick.

NJD and Canucks (Miller) were linked to many many reports of trade talks between the 2 franchises this year.

Miller, 29 yrs old is an Alpha leader that plays with an edge and I can see him being the perfect type of player to lead the young skilled NJD core.

To Van
2nd OA

to NJD
MIller - extended

Who adds and what are those additions.
Close to even up. Miller will return Kings ransom next trade deadline.

Sorry but why would Devils trade 2nd OA for aging JT Miller that needs a giant extension? 2nd OA fits much better with the team and is cost controlled ELC + probably cheaper than JT miller even after that. VAN needs to add because of salary cap.

Agreed, both Vancouver and New Jersey suck too much to take advantage of Miller.

PIT, NYR, COL, WAS, TML, or TBL...those are teams that should be offering a king's ransom for Miller @50%...best $2.65m asset any contender can add this off-season.

not going to lie I dont think there's anything VAN could add that would make me move the 2nd overall for JT Miller as the main piece

Sure there is.

Sign Boeser to a 3 year extension, retain 50%, and trade him along with Miller (also retained for his one remaining year at 50%), and that should get you 2nd overall ;)

Canucks traded Bryan McCabe and a future 1st to Chicago for a 4th OA and then traded that plus two 3rd rounders to Tampa for 1st OA. So maybe there's a complicated deal to be done here.

Brothers don’t have to be on the same team. It’s one of the most bizarre “sports things” out there.
