Recalled/Assigned: Joshua Roy sent down to Laval (2025-04-17)

Nest year will be the important part for him. People forget he's just 21. He's not a high end talent his game is pretty much entirely based on being at the right place and at the right time to overcome a lack of speed and skills. It worked in junior but at the higher level he'll have to work a bit harder. Being 22 next season he'll have to start showing that drive that will be required to make it.
I disagree. 22 hes young, could be a late bloomer where all of his game comes together around 25+. Infact im betting on him being a top9 impact player and leader for us come his mid-late twenties.

I mean... why now? Why sit him all this time, then ship him back down?
There is a limited number of recalls after the deadline (3 total if I remember right). Habs probably kept him up in case there was more injuries and not to pointlessly burn recalls. And I think Demidov and Kappy also counted as recalls.

Could very well happen, but he won't be here by then.

I don't know man. It sure seems like he missed his chance this year. I was really hoping we'd get him some ice but it never happened. I think he's trade bait.

I'd hate to see him not get a shot at the bigs but I don't see it happening here.

Home town guy, unless montreal gets a GOOD offer for him. He's home.
That home town factor has unduly influenced many people's opinion about this player. With the high -end players Montreal has in its developmental pipeline, the multiple high draft choices the team accumulated over the next few years and the probability that Hughes will be active in the free agency market, I think Roy's window to make the team has closed.

I see a career similar to a Gabriel Dumont, ABB and Charles Hudon.

Personally I think they kept him because they thought they would clinch earlier and would rest players.

Offensive instincts don’t mean anything if you don’t work hard to execute. Kid seems very stubborn trying to make his style of play work in the nhl.

I'd rather they play him with Condotta I haven't seen any chemistry with Beck and Roy ever and this includes PP time.
I don’t know if I would call it chemistry, but in the times that I have watched them play together, Roy has shown the hands and vision to get the puck to Beck in situations where Beck can use his superior speed. I think it will be an effective pairing at least at the AHL level. Beck needs to play with players who can read/ anticipate the play and place the puck in an area where Beck can skate into the puck. Roy may have his limitations from the neck down, but he, Farrell and Mesar see the ice better that most Laval forwards.

Perfect opportunity to step-up his game with Laval in the playoffs. A strong post-season will segue nicely for training camp and pre-season battle for a spot.

With Dvorak, Armia, and Pezzetta all likely leaving there could be a spot for him
