He's a former NCAA athlete and in great shape, but of course feel free to share your internet outrage.
I'm curious as to the sport? And the other gentleman is right, norris will have the best of the best to help him through it. Your friends surgeon is based off what his insurance pays for. Norris for his last surgery went to the best surgeon in the field for shoulder issues. So albeit similar it's vastly different. I'd also like to point out that norris and pinto have been skating with the team since atleast superbowl weekend.

Tennis. He now coaches and is why he’s in great shape. I agree I have no personal knowledge of Norris’ medical charts except what’s reported, but at the salary and cap hit, I’m not sure the juice is worth the squeeze. At least personally I wouldn’t want to take the risk the injury history brings.

Here's the issue.

Ottawa fans will want BIG value for him because they will look at Norrris from the POV of his skill and point production but not really take into account his injury history

Vancouver fans will look at ONLY his injuries and not want to give any value.

The truth is some-what in the middle. He wouldn't have big value, but SOME value to compensate for the probability that he plays up to his skill level and DOESNT get hurt again...
That said.... ...there's another thing here to take into account.
The contract....
The contract cannot be ignored and imo this would further hurt his value. for 8 million a year, you want like a YOY guy who will put up MINIMUM 60 points and probably bring some other positives to the game... that is the very best case scenario for him which he likely wont play up to in light of the injuries.

so, he does have some value, but much less than OTTAWA thinks and only slightly more than Van would want to give.

For the value that OP suggested, yes.
For those saying Willander? Heck no. If his injury issues are as serious as they're made out to be, I'd stay away if I'm Vancouver. No good in getting an injury prone guy, but it would be a good buy-low (though Vancouver's medical staff doesn't have the best record, this does look good on paper).

DeBrusk - Petey - Boeser(?)
Joshua - Norris - Lekkerimaki
DOC - Chytil - Garland
Suter - Blueger - Sherwood

Hughes - Hronek
MPetey - Myers

No one has ever suggested Willander for Norris. I'm saying if you want Pinto, Willander has to come back.

It’s a very big risk for any club to trade for Norris. But if he can stay healthy (a big if) then the reward is very high. Norris is a really good player. Snd rumours are Van is trying to acquire a top six forward around Norris’s age, who is a distressed asset, so the price tag isn’t too high. Van does have the cap to absorb the Norris contract too. But with Norris injured (again) maybe this is a summer kind of deal?

Norris is owed 9.5 M in real dollars for the next two seasons and is always injured. There is absolutely incentive for Ottawa to move him, and because of those factors, that’s the type of return he’ll get.

You’re drastically overrating Norris.
As a player, he's got a lot you like. A legit 2C. And $7.95MM per year for a good 2C is a very reasonable AAV.

But to your point... the injury status makes any player hard to value. And yes... He has endured many of them.
