"MP is solid- he was our most consistent player the last 3 seasons on defense"
"DOC is fast as hell- works hard and only getting better. Looks like he's pretty injury resistant too"
"I liked DOC a lot- whole fan base loves him actually"

My buddy is a die hard Pens fan and those were his thoughts.........MP DOC and Chytil for Miller is pretty effing good considering..........

Don't forget we also got Mancini AND got rid of Desharnais+Heinen's 2/2.25M contracts this+next year.

Absolute masterclass of managing your way out of a hole.
Surely Allvin's ability to squirm out from under bad contracts, has to be approaching legendary status by now.

How he's managed to jettison contracts for the like of Mikheyev, Poolman, Heinen, Desharnais, Miller and Sprong all in one season, is kind of mind-boggling. Not that Miller's was a 'bad contract'. But it was still an $8m cap hit, and he didn't end up retaining a dime on it.

One thing is for certain......when he makes a mistake on the UFA market, he doesn't let molder for very long.

It would appear that Allvin and Rutherord have been targeting Marcus Pettersson almost since they got to Vancouver.

It would also appear that there was 'zero' chance of getting him unless they coughed up a first round draft pick. So that's one of the underrated benefits of the Miller trade. The Rangers first rounder enabled Allvin to cut a deal with Dubas in Pittsburgh, and get Pettersson to Vancouver.

Every time a player got papered to Abby in the beginning of the season, every dime was always intended for Marcus Pettersson.

We always had our own first rounder. They probably had this trade cooked up and just continued to alter the pieces in it since training camp.

Then the wheels fell off, we traded Miller and all of a sudden even after Mpetey we have room for another Mpetey.

I said it before but management is probably pissed they jerked around every waiver eligible player for 40 games all for nothing.

4-5 mill capspace today while every Linus and Arshdeep got frequent flyer miles.

Unless you are some supernatural being, everyone is going to make mistakes during their lives, professional and personal. What distinguishes the current management team is not their lack of perfection but the competence they have largely demonstrated to take calculated risks and fix mistakes reasonably quickly. The elephant in the room is of course the EP40 situation and while we can endlessly debate that topic, we're going to have to wait and see what happens to form a final judgement.
