If he's cleared to play I'm not going to worry one bit until something happens. It's the same with Chychrun, you know he's made of glass but getting worked up about it until something happens is a waste of energy.

Of course Chychrun went down in a heap THE VERY FIRST GAME he played with us and all I could think was, are you kidding me??? We got another 11 games out of him though so that was something

We should rename this thread to "Josh Norris' shoulder" though. Not sure how much him being 6'1" makes a difference

Sure, you can have your false optimism man, just don't call people who live in reality pessimists.
Sweet thanks

The kid has injured his shoulder multiple times and they also thought he was good to go last January before he reinjured it three games in. No one should feel any optimism until he's played in 10-20 games without going down.
I kind of agree with this.

I would say there is a good reason to hope he will be better. It is just too early in his career to label him injury prone, however if he goes down to any kind of injury in the first 10-20 games it would be a cause for concern IMO.

I heard Travis Kelce say on his podcast that he has had 10 surgeries over his hall of fame career. He almost never missed any actual games so I guess he had these surgeries in the offseason. The point I am making is his play never dropped because most surgeries nowadays really do work most of the time.

Which he would have had if he'd had surgery right away.

Not doing that was a terrible decision.
It was his decision to make. And I am glad the team gave him the ability to make that choice instead of turning this into an Eichel situation.

He could have had the surgery earlier, and “tweaked” it when he started to do more hockey training, so I think the point is moot. If he tweaked it in July would it have been better? Ok. But he probably wouldn’t have done the type of training he did in July …in September.

From OD99's post on the Fan Fest thread today (hope DD99 doesn't mind):

"BTW, Norris took some heavy contact and didn't flinch. His skating looked great too."
(more of that evil optimism)

he skates on his shoulders ?

I'm really worried about this kid's shoulder.

He should have had surgery 11 months ago. That whole waiting and trying again thing last year was a massive f***up, IMO.

Take this with a massive grain of salt but I found this post on reddit, not encouraging.

A buddy of mine who is close with a member of the Sens' medical staff confirmed to him that the team is "worried" about Josh Norris' lingering shoulder issues. SUPPOSEDLY, there is legitimate concern this injury could require another procedure.
The account is a couple of years old and has been posting in the Sens sub somewhat regularly, don't think it's a troll.

Woof. Either way, until he plays an extended stretch of regular season games, it's hard not to be pessimistic.

If this is the case, it's very disappointing how it's been handled.

I can't imagine that this concern would have arisen yesterday, yet, the team did nothing to shore up the C ice position in the summer.

Especially since Pinto is unsigned and will be starting the season from behind.

If there were serious doubts about Norris, why not go out and get a guy like Ryan Johansen, who was traded for nothing with 50% retention?

He can play C and slide over to RW if Norris is good. Wouldn't that have been a better investment than Tarasenko, who we're now trying to make play LW for the first time in his career?
