And so just randomly they kept Norris out but decided to play Chabot, who is himself coming back from surgery?
There's a pretty distinct difference between Chabot getting some stuff cleaned up in the offseason and Norris having a major surgery with a 6 month recovery timeline.

Is how Norris is being handled different than other players coming off 6 month recoveries? There's nothing particularly unusual about players in similar circumstances being eased in, first they get cleared for practice, then cleared for contact, then after a few practices they introduce them back into games.

People are understandably worried about the potential that he has another setback and will never be healthy, but following a schedule to slowly bring him back into the fold is not evidence anything went wrong, or that there has been a setback.

And of course full disclosure and transparency on injury status is the NHL norm so we really should be nervous

I think it's 7 players that have to meet the threshold
It’s 8, under article 15.4 when I checked yesterday.

I disagree here. Many times we will see guys push up their recovery timeline and come back early and play well, especially top players. This is something you often see during the season or players that want to be back for playoffs.

The timeline for the surgery Norris got is 4 to 6 months recovery, not 6 months. As of today we are at 6 month and 2 weeks and Norris was skating in a yellow jersey a week ago.

This is not being careful, this is Norris 3rd surgery on his left shoulder in less than 5 years. The team is scared to put him out there, he's scared to be out there and get injured again. The next shoulder injury is the end of his career. So, yes, they are being careful, but there is nothing usual about the Norris situation. 24 year old player had 4 shoulder surgeries and is making 8M$ a year. I think there is plenty of reason to be worried about his shoulder not holding up.

I would not be surprised at all if he's on LTIR for the rest of his contract before the end of the season, that's where were at with him.

There is little to be optimstic about with Norris. We're approaching cut you losses territory.

Norris was never in a yellow jersey, he hasn't participated in the games or a intrasquad scrimmage.

You want to disagree that there's a difference between a major surgery and an an arthroscopic clean up, that's you prerogative but it seems insane to me.

How about a bump considering he is back in the line-up tonight and everyone is saying he hasn't had any limitations?

I am stoked to see him in action, and be ready for Friday or Saturday!

He looked fine, physically. Took all the draws, regular shift, battled.

Missed his bit one-timer opportunity, but that rust will shake off quickly. He could have had a few last night.

The play where he drove the net with strength and speed is something we haven't seen much of in awhile.

I've said it elsewhere but he seemed to gain confidence with the puck as the game went on.

Just needs to zero in the aim on his shot.

You read my mind about the net drive. That really stood out to me. He also hit the post after picking up a pass with a quick release.

Also supports my thoughts that he isn't just a one-timer machine - the dude knows where to be, the puck finds him and he straight up knows how to score. Just like @2CHAINZ

Where is that prom queen?!

I thought Norris looked good last night & reminded us how good he cand be again when he is healthy. Norris, Pinto & Greig are three good centres on this team that play a very good 200' game & defensively responsible. Also all three are good in the faceoff circle.

Was skeptical about Norris going into the season but he looked really good last night. If he can return to his 2021 form I'm very optimistic about our playoff chances. He won't shoot 20% again but if he puts up a 30G 30A season, Stutzle bounces back and Ullmark provides league average goaltending it's hard to see us missing the playoffs.

You forget how well he skates, or maybe he has added a step. Very excited with his game yesterday
Haha!

I have been putting that in every post about the guy. Everyone defaults to his shooting, but he has always been an excellent skater and a smart player. He will be a huge addition.

Last nights game was encouraging.

He may not have had a great night stats wise, but he was skating and he was physical. Took a run at MT near the Panthers bench - he bounced off of him, but the effort was there.

He will get back to form. Too bad Sanderson missed a pass to Norris on the last PP - the net was open and I was expecting his first goal.

Pinto needs to be our 2c.

Trade Norris I'm over it. Or maybe put him on wing.

No one is taking him with his contract and injury history. Maybe in 2 years as the cap goes up, if he plays well he would be moveable.

I don't need him to be an 8M player. I am willing to accept that sometimes players come out on the winning end of a contract, and we can't expect every player to be a bargain.

I would trade him to mitigate the risk of another injury, but if we aren't concerned about that, we should keep him. Having 3 top 6 centers is a good problem to have.
