What media?

No local reporter for the Athletic. The Citizen had their experienced guy step down, Bell media let go everyone that makes more than minimum wage, Rogers is too busy having their guys hobknob the Habs and Leafs and the Sun has a walking balloon that can barely write at a grade 2 reading level.

Betting it’s nothing as Staois is super protective of his players and I think he would of gotten ahead of this injury if it was serious

But it’s also been a major story line the last 2 years so the fact nobody in the media followed up is classic Ottawa sports media, don’t want to mix bad news with the arena news and everyone swimming is in the same pool swimming in the same direction. Maybe to help ticket sales, maybe it’s load management - but the fans should have an answer to this

I say give Norris one last chance, IF he misses a bunch of games or plays poorly, then buy him out.
It's a really prohibitive buyout though.

If he was destined to get hurt again, the timing of his injury might have been the best thing to ever happen to him. It meant that the Senators didn't have the option to buy him out this offseason. This offseason was the last one that he qualified for the U26 buyout rate.

Because his contract was backloaded, the buyout would have entitled the Senators to additional cap credits beyond the already generous 1/3 formula. The result would have been almost nothing on the books for the first four seasons of the buyout, then about 1M on the books for 8 years. With the cap shooting up, that would be negligible.

We're all getting ahead of ourselves, but if it is his shoulder again, you have to wonder if he will end up on LTIR permanently. Maybe coming back down the stretch like MacArthur did if we're fighting for a playoff spot.

Granted, we're all in the HFBoards/online Sens bubble. 9/10 Sens fans aren't browsing Wayne Scanlan's Twitter on a weekday afternoon. So this isn't a huge story right now. With that said, if it was nothing you think they would at least put out that he just the shits, forgot to turn the stove off, whatever the reason was that he did not play. So until we hear something, I am going to assume that the sky is falling. It's my right as a poster here.

Dude's been in rehab for a long time. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a tweaked groin. That tends to be the issue with guys who have been on the shelf awhile.

Thank god for pinto and Greig
And with ostapchuk and Halliday close behind Norris might not be such a big loss.

I dont think a buy out is ever in his future, next major injury is his last and then its LTIR
You don't have to buy out players that are going to have to retire. I said it all summer, still can't believe anyone counted on him playing already or without issue. I hope he is OK but 3 shoulder surgeries. It's a tough situation and very unlucky. Hoping for a miracle.

I guess that means Ullmark gets the start tomorrow, very curious to see how he looks.

Is Norris able to play in preseason games while on IR?
Norris misses two practices in a row. Any idea about him being not 100% is just baseless speculation and over reactio

Not to take anything from these guys but don't think they'll come close to what Norris did in 2020-21 and 2021-22. He had a stretch of 47 goals in 91 games (which was the 12th highest GPG in the NHL during that period, tied with Rantanen) and had top defensive metrics in his rookie season, as a 21 y/o facing top lines every night on a rebuilding team.

Pinto is the guy who has the potential to get the closest.

Can't recall a player who got hurt as much since Pascal Leclaire.

Matt Murray?

I think he has been the most often injured player in the NHL since he entered the league in 2017

Pinto is a much better two way player is a great compliment for 2nd line center behind Stutzle. They are different players but I think Pinto helps the team win in more ways. Big right handed two way centers that have some offense are rare and super valuable.
