Was reading that when Brook re-injured the knee he couldn't even bend his knee. For someone that relies on his skating so much, really hope he can stay healthy and the knee doesn't become a problem for him in his career. He's only played 99 games in the AHL since the '19-'20 season. If the Habs re-sign him, he's got to be in Laval next year, don't think waivers will be a problem.

I've had knee injuries like that. Sometimes it mostly comes back with physio, sometimes it just doesn't. Even in the best case there is a loss of strength and flexibility.

he was struggling badly last game, 2 or 3 times he had to dive to get at a puck, it was not pretty. Just hope it's not a injury that impacts his career.

Win-win. He will get big minutes...Lions needs a big-minute guy on D.

Right, but it is concerning for his overall development.

With his age and pedigree, he should have been knocking on the NHLs door by now. Instead he is further away than he was when he turned pro.

Poor guy, he was really unlucky. I was convinced he would have an NHL future.

Matter of principle.

Was damn hyped for him when he was drafted, even thought he had the most raw potential of all our prospects at some point, about 2 years ago.

Oh well, I also thought Jonathan Ferland would surprise everyone and become a tier-2 PF in the NHL, back in the days, that Ben Maxwell would become a legit 2-way C in the league, and that our 2012 draft was a great one. So yeah.

Still, hope Brook can turn it around.

Crazy how Brook was our top defense prospect at one point but now we’re so deep that I’m not really bummed out about it.

Also regarding the 2012 draft, literally everyone and their grandma thought we did well. That’s what happens when you draft the consensus top picks was my biggest take away.

Plus injuries and total lack of development. Galchenyuk could have used some more time in lower leagues, and his game really dropped after his NHL knee injury. Collberg didn't develop. Thrower was a tougness over talent pick. Bozon, Vail, and Hudon were all worse picks than I remembered. I suppose Hudon wasn't bad, too bad he plateaued in the AHL.

My biggest takeaway from habs drafting is that you can't draft projects when your AHL development is terrible and you don't have skills coaches. They drafted project after project, left them to develop until they got to the AHL where they had no hope with Lefebvre. If you're going to have a terrible development stream try to draft players with a higher floor, players who have already acquired skills.

I suspect the habs lost the thread when all the D from the '80s left. Robinson taught players for years, Laperriere was around for a long timeas a coach, and they had a pretty strong group of players to teach the new guys. The habs didn't make the transition when they let those guys go. If Bergevin actually turned Robinson down, as opposed to covering for his desire to be in a less crazy hockey town, that would be his worst move as GM, and some of his other moves were really bad.

Agreed, one of the perks in having a ECHL team is we have someone to put players who need a fresh start or more playjng time. The McNiven fisco of playing on different teams who wouldnt even play him really highlighted the importance of a strong 3 tier system.

Brook has just gotten over a major injury at the worst time. He had a promising season last year. He came into this season a step behind players who were deep into the season and in game shape. He can get it back.

I was at the game last night. He was pairing with Brodeur again and for an offensive D, he was invisible except a flash or two in second period. I don't know if he's still injured but he was clearly not the best defenseman on the ice for the Lions. He got time on the PP but did not seem to be able to QB.
