The whole fanbase is hurting tonight and what makes me angry the most is come October, we’ll be talking about the same useless shit with no real sight of winning a cup

I genuinely do not care that McDavid won the art ross this year and whatever mvp trophy he’ll win or that Drai came in 2nd with a sizeable gap to 3rd.
I don’t care about 100 points in 53 games. I want playoff wins dammit

Agree 100% about the points and the trophies and playoff wins. I'm just not convinced the players 100% believe that though. The last two years has shown to me that we were not prepared to play playoff hockey. I get that there are lessons to be learned, but you need to see progress to see if the lesson is indeed being learned. Not saying the players don't want to win, they may just not know how to, or aren't prepared to really, really learn how to prepare themselves for the playoffs.

We outplayed them. We easily had more shots and more quality shots.... so what gives??? Smith has been a .900 SV% goalie for years coming into this season. His regular-season SV % was fluky high. He is not a good goalie. Look at the goals his positioning was terrible. Shots were breathing him that shouldn't. The OT winner on Friday. Most of the goals tonight. To much space to shoot at. simple as that.
The ENTIRE team collapsed and gave up constant grade a chances. It was 4-1 with 9 minutes left and 3 great goals in a row. But yes, if you just look at raw numbers and want to arbitrarily out all the blame on a single player. Cool.

The regular season means nothing to me anymore. I’m where Leafs fans should have been a couple years ago. None of the individual trophies mean anything anymore. These guys need to prove it in the real season now.
THANK YOU. Exactly my point

I cringe every time people say “McPoint” and whatever else stupid things

The goal should be to coast through the regular season and compete like hell in the playoffs.

look at MacKinnon right now…
People aren’t wrong when they say they’d take MacK over Connor in the playoffs.

Goal 4 was a floater. Like it was barely moving. A joke. Goal 3 was a crap rebound

In no world was Morrisey's goal a grade A chance, nor a great goal. Smith saw it and missed it. Reaction time too slow.

I don’t care what Mike Smith/Mikko Koskinen have done this year, neither goalie should be back next year. Even if we go on to win our next 16 games all the way to the Stanley Cup win, I stand by what I said.

Smith has been solid all season and all series just collapsed for 4 minutes when we were the most fragile. Wouldn't be mad if Holland brought him back

Nope. he shouldn't be brought back. He had a fluky good season. His numbers should speak louder over longer periods. He has not been good for a few years. Just watch his positioning. It's not up to par with other goalies in the league.

People think he had a great game cause he was flying across the crease to make saves. What people don't get is good goalies don't need to do that. Hellebuyk made it look easy. He made so many saves Smith couldn't make. Simple as that.
Hello! It's a team game. When the team in front of the goalie is consistently in a panic and not making the right plays it's not just the goalies fault. It's the entire team that takes the blame. NOT JUST 1 f***ING GOALIE. THEY ALL HAD A f***ING BAD 3 MINUTE WHEN THEY COULDN'T DO A f***ING THING TO HELP THE GOALIE OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there some way we can Robidas Island Mikko Koskinen? Just like offer him an extra million under the table

to "get a season ending injury" and get himself on LTIR all of next year.

It's certainly not all on Smith. The team scoring 1 goal in the first 2 games isn't on him. But it's undeniable he's been the 2nd best netminder every game. The OT goal last game and the game tying goal tonight were floaters from far out. Screens or minor deflections be damned. Those are goals that Hellebuyck hasn't given up.

Helle is also the reigning Vezina winner, and Smith was supposed to be our backup, who is only filling in because our supposed #1 goalie shit the bed. We've gotten great mileage from him, but he's not the best in the league. That guy belongs to our opponent. But there are no other award winners on the Jets, and we have a couple, and overall they haven't been dominant.

I agree. I will say the biggest off season move that is needed is a real #1 goalie.

I agree. Koskinen more than anyone was the letdown. But still, Smith was a fluke the regular season. No one should have expected him to be any where close to good enough in the playoffs.

This! Mike Smith has to make those types of plays because he screwed up positioning wise. He performed well this year overall I guess but that doesn't take away from the years of evidence that he's declining hard and making what used to be routine for him seem like an adventure.

It's Adam Larsson syndrome. Adam Larsson isn't among league leaders in hits/blocked shots because he's good. Adam Larsson is among league leaders in hits/blocked shots because he's a liability who can't get the puck nor get it out of the zone.

Adam Larsson was probably our most consistent player and best D man again this playoff.

He's old enough to play for the Montreal Maroons lol. Unless he's coming back for 1 million or less it's pretty much guaranteed to be an overpay.

Whoop dee doo! He had two good games! Totally changes that he's a ~45% chance differential player for the season overall and one of the league leaders in blocked shots!

Islands in the stream.
It’s literally a repeat of last year. Oilers will choke to an inferior team and said inferior team will be dispatched with ease.

Its hard to figure. Drai and McD had made drastic strides in their 200ft games this season, had worked so hard to be better all round players, and they were. Here they were inexplicably throwing pucks away.

I mean this is a microcosm but Haas was reliably responsible all season. First shift he had in the series, tonight, he makes a bad play giving puck away. I hadn't seen him do much of that all season.

Archibald loses his mind in this game. Don't recall a stupider penalty by him all season.

3 times in first period McD can't even handle a pass. I mean when does that happen?

All series Barrie can't control a puck.

Team is still so fragile but I didn't think some of the players listed would be among them.

Anyway. Time to shut her down for tonight.

cheers

Honestly, the most Oilers thing they could do is make it to game 7 and lose then.

Would rather just end it here, although the comeback would be respectable.

McDavid on ice for 4/5 goals for in the series.

Sitting on the bench trying to recover watching 6/8 of the non-EN goals against.

We better have a good presentation for him to give him some hope things will get better here in the future.
