ANY club can go down this way in hockey if you give the opponents a chance and stir them up. Goals can happen fast and meltdowns too. The best team in history had this happen to them.

Its not about being the only culprit. Archibald was the catalyst of this loss, through one mind numbingly stupid and selfish penalty. I mean you would expect it to be Kassian but he was good today. Archie can't be doing that as a bit role player. His job on the ice is to not get scored against, and not contribute to goals against. Thats his job, his primary job. he's here for no other reason than to be RESPONSIBLE.

Not to mention his line was also out there for 2 other GA in the game.

Tippett is a solid regular season coach. His problem is he cant do shit in the playoff when things get intense. We got coaches calling out refs getting angry showing emotion. The team is down 2-0 in the series and he looks confused about "hmmm were kind of unlucky??? i guess".

Why don’t we talk about Smith getting beat on the glove hand on both the tying and winning goals. Both saves he should have had.

No denying he’s played lights out, but dude, make those saves

Yeah - hes a 40 year old goalie and it showed today. He gave them a chance the first two games. They had to capitalize with no Elhers and you have to suspect Smith would lay at least one goose egg in a series like this.

Including the game winner in Ot on a set play where Archibald fails to engage with his guy to negate or get a stick in there. Khaira didn't even lose that one straight. Archie had time to get there but waved his stick at it. Jets were loading that up.

Pretty confodent next game is the last for Nygent Hopkins. Holland needs to find a winger for Connor, and while lookibg aroibd the riom, he finds something that has tradevalue. Every team is looking for a NHL 1C..

I just don't understand what's wrong with McDavid. Even when he's off his game, he show he cares with physical play. When the Habs were frustrating him earlier this season, he fought back with physicality. When the Oilers were down by two goals in game 5 of the Sharks series, he threw a big hit that sparked the comeback. I haven't seen any of that by the captain in this series. Drai's performance in the first period was great leadership, and I'm n0t just talking about the two goals. We need to see some of that from McDavid - show the rest of the team that you haven't given up yet.

Connor seems to get his mojo from scoring sick goals or making sweet dangles with open ice. He has not learned to be able to consistently play a dirty grindy simpler game. He can only do that for spurts and gets restless and want to be fancy and pass pucks into the net. He needs to learn, in the playoffs, you have to just take what the other team gives you and not to force things that aren't going to consistently work.

Yah, but blaming Smith is the last place you should look...

Don’t leave! :(

I agree with mostly everything else though. Especially about McDavid.

Since I can't like your post I have to say, you'll be missed.

This has broken my care meter (finally), but I want to see how this offseason goes. If it looks like a dud, I'm done watching the team til they make the 2nd round, if it ever happens.

Leaving HF is easier said than done.

I have to admit the community here is pretty great despite the fact we all collectively cheer for one of the biggest jokes in professional sports.

Yeah I have no idea. I didn’t watch the overtime so I’m not sure how he looked there but that turnover in the third was ridiculous.

Some of our guys can use the “rookie/lack of playoff experience” excuse like Pulju and Yamo but McDavid is the leader of this team and this is his third post-season.

He is still the biggest piece of this franchise by far but I’m disappointed in him. It’s a first.

Tippett failed by waiting for the TV timeout instead of stopping the bleeding immediately too.

Coach's instinct there was wrong.

The TV timeout shit is B.S. anyway. They just had the half period timeout. He was further from that timeout than he was back from the previous one.

It's not intuition or instinct, it's just him being asleep at the wheel.

I get being critical the first 2 games.

The top line was great tonight though imo. Scored 2 at ES and put up a 3rd on the powerplay. Meanwhile the rest of the time has scored 1 goal this series without McDavid on the ice.

Same old same old with the Oilers. Takes a super hero effort from McDrai for the team to have a chance, and even a 6 combined points from the two of them isn't enough tonight.
Mcdavid also turned it over on the game tieing goal and didn’t get anything going all overtime. The no show the first two games is why we have no margin of error here.

Again doesn't matter how many saves you make its when you make the saves unfortunately we have never had a goalie that made that key save at a key time. He should of had the timing goal. No excuses he whiffed on it.

Pretty sure they've already said Smith is starting tomorrow.

Really? ....... really? Why? Back to back, 3 straight losses, and 3 goals in 3 minutes

Oh man, it's really getting impossibly difficult to defend Tippett, especially after he said post game that Bear had a strong game, which couldn't be further from the truth. Evan Bouchard, it's time.

I'm not ready to give up, we have the 2 best players in the NHL and deserved to win every so far. We're coming back to Edmonton next Sunday for game 7. Let's go boys

It’s just him being stubborn.

Like when you’re playing a sports video game online, you’re getting beat badly, and a pause to change your team tactics is warranted, but you don’t want to show weakness by actually pausing.

Fire Tippet, hire Torts. If anyone can do something with the shit D to turn it around, its Torts. He'll kick everyone on the team in the ass and force accountability, put up or get sent down.

Also the bottom 2/3rd of the roster and half the D core should be purged. Call up all AHL players if you can't swing any trades or free agents, just get the losers out of the locker room.

Lastly, figure out a way to convince Koskinen to mutually terminate his contract, leave a severed horse head in his sheet, w/e, just make him and his cap hit go away. Get one of the Panther's 3 goalies to be the new starter with Smith for 1 more year as backup.

Stanley Cup 2023.
