It’s funny... he refused to use the DRY line last year cause he said we can’t win with one line but this year went Mcdrai against the deepest forward groups in the league. He makes no sense

He really doesn't. We already tried the experiment with bear on the top line this year, and he looked terrible. But then he puts him on the top line in the playoffs? Then compliments him after being the worst defender on the ice for either team? Like, you can't make this stuff up.

Tippett coaching the team next year simply can't happen

its the nature of hockey that this kind of momentum swing can happen. You don't give your opponent this break. Its really quite simple. Don't gift a PP there and Jets don't get back in the game. The 4-2 goal got them back in it.

I don't disagree, but any contender needs to have the mental fortitude, discipline, and coaching to maintain a lead late in a must-win game. We lacked all 3 and Archie was certainly not the only culprit.

A few thoughts:
  • Anyone not named Draisaitl, McDavid, Puljujarvi, Larsson or Nurse can be let go and I wouldn’t give two shits.
  • This team is so mentally fragile after repeating the same bullshit talking points about not taking the Jets lightly or taking it one game at a time or being able to hold onto leads. All of it was BS.
  • McDavid is such a mediocre playoff performer. 3 points tonight and he wasn’t the one making the play on any of them. Draisaitl is the true backbone of this team in the playoffs.
  • #FireTippett @Cloned
Let’s not forget the master plan here. We were never going to win this year. Going out this way stings but the team is still on the upswing.

With that being said, I’m done investing so much emotionally into this team. I’ve literally grown up in the living hell that is being an Oilers fan and I think there are probably other forms of escapism that are better for my mental health. I’m going to take a break from posting here for a while and I’m definitely not watching tomorrow. I applaud those of you that are stronger than me.

I hear you - this team has been disappointing me since 1997 - but there’s one thing you can always rely on to bring a smile to your face - you’re not a Canucks fan. Never forget that.

The positive is that they can let RNH and Barrie go without feeling much hurt. Barrie hasn't done much of anything since April basically making it easier and easier to move on from him and Nuge is just sort of... there. I didn't even think he was bad but he just doesn't move the dial enough to justify the contract he'll get, I feel like this has been on repeat about Nuge for about 5 years now outside of the heat burst on the DRY line to end last season.

I'd actually be excited to see a whole new supporting cast around McDrai and some prospects earning spots.

I don't even think much of the Jets, I have them losing to the MTL/TOR winner.

I do believe in Hellebuyck though. Man I'd die to have a goalie that gave me confidence like him.

Smith wasn't even awful, just he will never give you the 100% confidence a guy like Helle does.

Had a couple shots and a drink.

This team is like an abusive ex. I'll keep coming back, convinced this time they've changed, and things will be better because I'll be a better fan.

Seriously though, Seattle may become my 1B next year.

It's hard not to overreact, two overtime games could have easily gone either way.

First off, everyone blaming McDavid and Draisaitl can get the hell out of here.

McDavid, Draisaitl, Nurse, Puljujarvi, and Yamamoto (he had another good game) stay.

Nobody else is untouchable. Heck, even Yamamoto can be had for the right return.

ANY club can go down this way in hockey if you give the opponents a chance and stir them up. Goals can happen fast and meltdowns too. The best team in history had this happen to them.

Its not about being the only culprit. Archibald was the catalyst of this loss, through one mind numbingly stupid and selfish penalty. I mean you would expect it to be Kassian but he was good today. Archie can't be doing that as a bit role player. His job on the ice is to not get scored against, and not contribute to goals against. Thats his job, his primary job. he's here for no other reason than to be RESPONSIBLE.

McDavid might be the best regular-season player in the world but playoff-Leon is so much better imo.

We might have to live with an underperforming franchise player like Wash has for so many years.

Nope, not a chance are you playing that card for this series (add the Hawks to his resume), this is a pathetic under performance by a team who is better then it's opponent (again). Losing to the Leafs or in the 1/4 finals, you can drop the roster there. This series is f*ucking pathetic and he needs to be fired
We were behind in goal and forward depth.

What did Tippett f*** up?? For the record I don't like him...

You know this team with it's loser mentality is going to make excuses when they're eventually ousted from the playoffs. I can hear it now... "we were close, lost close games... couple OT games.... we could have easily taken this series if not for a few bounces."

I just don't understand what's wrong with McDavid. Even when he's off his game, he show he cares with physical play. When the Habs were frustrating him earlier this season, he fought back with physicality. When the Oilers were down by two goals in game 5 of the Sharks series, he threw a big hit that sparked the comeback. I haven't seen any of that by the captain in this series. Drai's performance in the first period was great leadership, and I'm n0t just talking about the two goals. We need to see some of that from McDavid - show the rest of the team that you haven't given up yet.

Alright, boys. Its been a fun ride on here. I'll be temporarily MIA for a bit. As much as I love this team, cheering for them has just been flat out exhausting. I envy any Oiler fan that was able to witness the Oilers dynasty years, but I'm 26 now (turning 27 in july) and born in 94.. so if you go from there to now and see the difference with the Oilers success, then yeah. I'll still be cheering for this team regardless, but Imma take a break. Hope you guys have a great long weekend. See ya'll soon.
PS: f*** the mains mouthbreathers and I hope their team gets knocked out too.
