Woll is not going to be a durable, reliable goalie for us moving forward. He's never been healthy in his whole pro career. He's certainly got high potential and has performed at high levels when called upon in tough situations, but if you're stealing a starting job only to be unavailable for a Game 7, what are we doing here?

Platoon him for sure, but our real playoff starter in the future should be someone else.

Didn't always play him when we arguably should have and couldn't play him when I'm certain we would have. Woll was on an admittedly short list of players who played well and yet not nearly enough during these playoffs.

Woll could be a really good goalie if he could stay healthy. I don't think we can count on his being healthy enough consistently to be our goalie of the future. We'll need a tandem again next year and beyond until Hildeby or someone else is ready.

Yep, dumb take. Here we are in game 7 with our sieve in net instead of our Woll.

What good is Woll if he's always INJURED, especially just before BIG GAMES ???
It's cruel but it's the truth when it comes to goalies. If you can't stay healthy, you suck. Sorry. Doesn't matter how good you are when healthy. Durability is a skill. If you don't have that skill, you suck.

If you're a forward who scores at an 80 point pace, or a defenseman who plays 23 minutes, but you're often injured... It's ok. It is what it is. We'll take the LTIR cap space for now and we'll hold down the fort. There are a dozen other forwards who we can shuffle around to put together a lineup that's more or less as good. And when you return, even better.

But if you're a goalie? No, you getting hurt just screwed us. So, unfortunately, Woll sucks now. Not at a Matt Murray level yet, but he's still young. There's time to get there. Until further notice, he's officially yet another goalie we can't count on.

Yeah agreed. Moving forward this guy is definitely in the goalie rotation but there is no way I trust him to be healthy for 82 games as a starter. This guy broke down for months and months and the team was left scrambling. One of the biggest breakout moments of his career, about to go into Boston to make a reputation making game, unavailable. That’s not going to work.

Yup. I like Woll and his potential. But I don’t trust he can even string a dozen games together before being injured. He’s made of glass.

Woll's time to breakout in the NHL is literally right now. He's the same age as 25 year old Jeremy Swayman. But what's the point in potential if that breakout season is still who knows when, injuries to be a deciding factor? Such a Leafy situation.

Yep, you and I are exactly right !!! A goalie that is inconsistent in performance, OR health, cannot be relied upon !!!

Can't hand him the starter role yet when you can't count on him.

He's in that Hofer Dostal Daws Kochetkov tier where it's clear he is going to be the guy, but still needs to play behind a legit starting goalie for a year or 2.

Made of glass.

finally find a goalie that can steal us games but he can’t stay healthy. It couldn’t be any other way being a Leaf.

Very disappointed he could not play .. but it was not why we lost game 7 .. thank Rielly and Mitch for that house league defense

Actually it is. He wouldn’t have let in that shit ass tying goal

Yes that tying goal was all on Sammy .. team got flustered for a minute and he panicked .. money tenders are hardest thing to find .. we were all shocked and disappointed by Woll's situation

You do not gamble with net but Woll is an excellent young backup on the cheap who can come in if your number one gets injured.

Worst case he is the back-up next season. Who he is the back-up to is a different question...

Woll is a solid goalie. His stats are better than Samsonov in both reg and playoffs both years. Problem is he's always injured. IMO, a keeper as he's a fantastic back up. Given his health history it doesn't seem like he'll ever be a starter playing 50 games.

Can't blame Samsonov for last night's loss, but I am confident if Woll was in net, that goal would not have gone in. Woll is fragile and needs better conditioning if he is going to take over the net full time next season
