Rumor: Jordan Spence being shopped

A Buffalo deal with Spence + as a base for Byram makes a lot of sense. I wonder if LA could up the ante enough to involve Peterka as well. Peterka-Byfield could be electric.

I think he'd be a good fit on the Avs. Only way it makes sense is if Girard is heading the other way. Something like Spence + Gavirokov's rights would be intirguing, with a conditional pick if Gavrikov doesn't sign.

Ottawa will probably put in an offer as a backup for Jensen, even if he's not the ideal fit, because the salary works. We can always move him in another deal later on.

Buffalo would want one of Clarke or Byfield for a Byram + Peterka package and LA isn't moving either guy.

Wait! LA is only moving Spence because he and Clarke play a similar game and can't use both in the same situations. But you think a good trade is for a left-handed version of Spence that is smaller, older and more expensive. That's ridiculous.

If and when LA moves Spence, they will be looking for a bigger tougher stay at home guy than a pick mover to take his spot. They will hopefully trade Spence in a package to get someone like Byram or Robertson or a young 2C.

Byfield is almost certainly a no go. Clarke for those 2 would be good value for LA but Clarke isn’t sniffing PP time over Dahlin and then you already have power who may not be as good offensively as Clarke but is still very good for that 2nd PP

Agreed on Clarke not being a great fit. Byfield or Anderson would be the ideal targets rather than Byfield or Clarke.

Handedness isn't as important as finding a defenseman that can kill penalties and compliment a Dahlin or Power pairing.

Assuming you're a devils fan. Your blue line is crazy deep. Any chance the Devils shop Siegenthaler to free up some space. Not sure what New Jersey would be looking for, but if/when Gavrikov walks he could be a good target for LA.
Siegenthaler is a massive bargain and one of the best defensive defensemen in the league. He will not be traded.
