Rumor: Jordan Spence being shopped

Jordan Harris
Mikael Pyyhtia

for

Jordan Spence
(low draft pick? nothing?)

Is that reasonable?
Hard to guage value without knowing the guys coming back very well. They dont really appear to offer anything that we dont already have.

I would guess that if we move spence it would be along with another piece for a more established player, as we are in "win now" mode, or a puck to throw in another trade.

We are soft as baby shit, unbalanced on D with a load of question marks (Gav?) Aging out in important positions (1C,1D and 1G) light on RS forwards and with a new Gm.

I could see Zito trading for him if Ekblad leaves. The D pool in UFA is thin, and it would give Florida even more flexibility for the next few years while they're in their window.

Eh, I prefer not to trade Zetterlund unless it's part of a package for a significant upgrade. Would you do Spence, first in 2026, and Ziemmer for Batherson?
Not a chance. Spence is better than the start watchers give him credit for, the 26 draft will be a better one, Ziemer’s upside is not something the Kings should consider trading.

I wouldn't get rid of Spence (not the poster being quoted) for at least a couple of years to see how he develops. It's not everyday you find a 2-way PMD RHD that can play everyday from day 1. Let him see if he can add to his game.

Trade him, keep him, play him 25min a night as the new #1D, I don't care any which way, but the bold doesn't make sense. First, he's already 24, there's likely not going to be any giant leaps in development. Two, if you're going to trade the guy, you want to do it before he shows he is what he is.

The Kings aren't rebuilding, Doughty isn't going to not play 1,000 minutes a night, Clarke was an 8th overall pick. If Spence isn't going to really get a chance to develop on a 3rd pairing, then your whole point to keep him is moot.

It would be really REALLY funny, if LA traded away another RD and he got really good elsewhere.
It would be a bit of a shocker. We no longer have the depth we once did and many right shot guys were sacrificed. We basically had:

Doughty
Roy
Walker
FABER
Durzi
Spence
Clarke
Grans

Now

Doughty coming off an injury
Clarke
Spence - in dimwit coach’s dog house
Kyle “Norris candidate “ Burroughs. - he is a minus a minute contributor

We can’t lose anymore depth. Unless it’s Burroughs. He was hot garbage

Nick Robertson for Spence.

Leafs need a player like this.
If Jack Quinn falls through Nick would be a solid get. Sign 2 years, play him with Fiala & Byfield. Upgrade at deadline if it doesn't work out.

King's cap could be tight this season depending on how crazy the new GM gets.

I wouldn't be surprised if he’s being shopped, the shock would be if he’s the centerpiece of something other than a shoulder shrug.

Coming up on 25 this next season.
Under 6’ and 200
No trend for goal production, just some assists. This goes back to juniors.
Lacks the tenacious D of a Dan Boyle
Been dog-housed when it matter’s most

Other than being RHD and a pretty skater, not much going on here to stoke other GM’s to pay up for.

I’d see a return as a mid-round draft pick that probably doesn’t make the show, a change of scenery swap, or a throw in as part or bigger package.

Still 24 - a lot of blueliners continue to develop past this age.
5’-11” and 180 - not THAT tiny
Excellent passer and playmaker - a solid PP distributor
Good IQ and avoids dumb penalties and playing beyond his means
Coached by an idiot

In addition, he’s a RHD, a valued position and is a great skater in addition to being cheap, all things GMs value.

(I don’t totally disagree with you, some of this is a bit tongue in cheek - but you can easily play devils advocate on a lot of this…sometimes what you see in the eye of the beholder).
