I think Binnington on a contender would be the best test to see if he truly is a good goalie, or if Edmonton's system fails goalies whereas they need to change their goaltending coach.

I find Stuart Skinner would likely benefit from a fresh start as Hofer could take over for the Blues starting position if Skinner isn't good. The Blues also lowkey may look to be a decent team next year.

That being said, I think Skinner should be a piece going to St. Louis if they were to trade for Jordan Binnington.

of course a jets fan thinks st louis when they are finally good should trade their Good G and this is coming from a wild fan myself. Why would they?

You'll settle for Merzlikins, who is actually potentially available, unlike Binnington.

Elvis Merzlikins (2y @ $5.4m)
77th overall

for

Viktor Arvidsson (1y @ $4.0m)
Stuart Skinner (1y @ $2.6m)
56th overall

EDM GK = Merzlikins + Pickard

CBJ GK = Greaves + (Tarasov/Skinner)

There are four sentences and four distinct pieces of dogshit bait in the OP. But not even an attempt at putting the poison in a treat, just offering it up raw and well-labeled for us to drain back.

OH look this thread again. Binny went from being run out town by blues fans in Jan to be hoisted on their shoulders in the playoffs. The chance to get him had pass

Was never an indictment on Binnington. It was an indictment on how bad the team was the first half of the season. Same could probably be said about moving Schenn and most other veterans not named Parayko. Don’t expect everyone to know the nuances of how the Blues season went, but we were really looking likely to be sellers prior to Monty coming in.

You actually expect us to take Stuart Skinner when we have Hofer and Ellis - both of whom are much better - on the roster and in the system, ready to start? Not even including Vadim Zherenko and whatever backup goalie we might sign that is still better than Skinner?

You better be giving us your next two first round picks (in 2026 and 2027), Sam O'Reilly and Beau Akey if you expect us to give up Binnington and take on Skinner's contract.

I wouldn't be comfortable giving the reigns to Hofer at this point, he is a solid back up for now and has potential but I don't think he is ready for a full time starter position. Ellis had a great year in the AHL but is completely unproven at the NHL level and just signed another two year two way deal so likely isn't getting a cup of coffee anytime soon barring injury. Blues will be looking to make the playoffs again so trading Binnington at this point is a non-starter.

It's a one year $2.6m cap contract.

Just play Hofer and Ellis and put Skinner on waivers.

You also won't be able to put Ellis in the AHL without waivers anymore. He's your backup unless you want to risk waiving him (in a scenario where Binnington is gone).
