I know Niskanen wouldn't take THAT much. Maybe a second and a prospect. Who knows with Franson.. Maybe the same as Niskanen.. maybe a bit more..

If we're really desperate to trade for defense, somebody is bound to be willing to part with someone for Tlusty. I'm not advocating getting rid of him, but he's our most tradeable piece. It might not be a bad idea to field offers around him for a Dman that might be better than Hainsey or whoever else might come through free agency. Just a thought.

I wouldn't mess with our top line. Besides, if Tlusty has the same kind of year as last year..wow. Besides, teams are looking to shed some guys without taking on salary.. We have picks and plenty of prospects

I'd prefer the first two, since they cost absolutely nothing asset wise. Even would have been open to a White return on a one-year but he took a PTO with the Jets. Don't think he was all that interested in coming back here anyway, hated his time here to begin with to almost a Belanger extent.

Sign Hainsey and be done with it if Pitkanen can't go. We can't afford to give up another 2nd rounder+ for a d-man, especially one that will only be marginally better than a UFA like Hainsey.

We've already traded a top 10 pick and a high 2nd rounder in the last two years... a small market can't be giving up 2nd round picks like the Flyers.

I wonder if we could pull some crazy swap with Philly?

Something like Skinner + A pick for Simmonds and Coburn.
Doubt Flyers go for that, and please don't post on the trade forum because their delusional fans will be asking you to add Faulk or some other ridiculous addition. Simmonds is apparently a Philadelphian god.

What's the percentage of second rounders who actually make it?

It's not a great probability but that doesn't really mean anything otherwise it'd be considered the smart move to trade your 2nd round picks for any decent NHLer you can get. After all, the 2nd round pick has a low probability of a making the NHL and the player you'd be trading for is already an NHLer. Why take the chance at drafting a Justin Faulk when you can flip that pick for a sure thing like Niskanen?!

Can't say I'm surprised given the severity of the injury, how it ended Pat Peake's career, and that he couldn't even put weight on it. Terrible way to go out for Joni, hopefully it's not a career ending injury for him.

This is very unfortunate. Each year has been a struggle for Joni here. This basically ends what was a very troubling situation for the past 4-5 years.
