Jesus H. Christ.

Look at our top two lines. You don't call that competitive?

What in God's name are you talking about?

Saying that going over the cap (at present) or trying multiple scenarios is probably what Dean is doing.

He can try and sign an UFA goalie. He will worry about the cap when it's time to worry about it.

Probably already has it charted out. It's why he made the Lucic deal in the first place.

You said, and I quote, our team is not competitive.

You also said we shouldn't have gone after Lucic in the first place.

Those morons over at the 4th Period (now not being followed) said the Kings were close to another trade, very close.

That was 3 hours ago.

Based on your rules set forth. That the Kings don't have any money. |If they didn't have any money, and shouldn't try ideas using the increase or other ideas.

Then they shouldn't have made the Lucic deal, if that is what caused the Kings to not have any money, like you're pointing out.

But they followed it up with this.

A nice CYA

@DennisTFP: For those poking me on Kings potential 2nd deal - hearing it is potentially complex one and may not close tonight.

Dennis followed up with this tweet.

@DennisTFP: I think conversations continue tomorrow AM and we see more deals

well then based on those rules. The kings shouldn't have even made the lucic deal.

As of right now, they can't field a competitive team. Still need a defender, a third line center, a backup goalie.

Since richards is still on the books.

berube is going to cost about 550k ? Weal will get north of 750k(rfa), need another d man, forbort costs 900k. (joking aside)

that sekera ship sailed, he is not going to accept some low end aav contract. Richards is not going to be a king come june 30th. Trading for lucic sealed mr#10 fate(he pretty much has to be buyout now, just to ice a full team).

Yeah.

Don't hold your breath.

While Berubes caphit literally cannot be replicated (since his cap hit is less than NHL minimum salary) you can find much better goalies on UFA. Richard Bachman, Jason Labarbera, Matt Hackett, Tom McCollum, Anders Lindback, Tomas Greiss, Jhonas Enroth, Michal Neuvirth, Ilya Bryzgalov, and Victor Fasth could likely be acquired for 900K or less. If 400K is the difference between a bad backup and feasible backup then Kings are in big trouble.

I think the Kings will target Matt Hackett, Tom McCollum, Tomas Greiss, Jhonas Enroth, or Michal Neuvirth. All of those goalies have strong resumes and can step up if needed.

Patrik Bartosak is the future but he still needs another year at AHL level before NHL games. He should steal Berube's starting spot next year then step up to LA's backup in 16-17. He already outplayed Berube last year.

I thought Bachman was a good option. For a cheaper guy.

Thanks for the summary.

I really like Neuvirth. Very impressive run for Buffalo last season until the Sabres got scared he (along with Enroth) would win too many games and both got dealt. Both Enroth or Neuvirth would work for me...the rest of those names...man, I don't know.

Jones' situation didn't change one bit going to Boston, now he has to back up Rask. I'm sure Malcom Subban isn't too happy. A lot of UFA goalies are really hoping they get the call from LA.

I heard rumblings out of Boston last week that Subban was never going to be the no. 2 there. Apparently, Bruins management was not impressed with his short stint late last season (not that he had much of a chance to show his abilities, but that's just my opinion).

I am wondering if Jones is going to get from the Bruins what he wanted from the Kings. He still has to negotiate a contract with Boston, unless I am missing something.

It sounds like he priced himself right off the team. You have to think he'll ask for the same as he did from LA. If he expects to play more , he and his agent will be wrong again. Rask plays about the same amount of games Quick does. Who know's he could be traded again before the season starts.

It can literally just be a shooter tutor. Quick is an elite goalie that can play a significant number of games.

With the injuries per season increasing for him lately that would probably be a really bad idea. If the Kings could get his games played totals down a bit he might even be fresher come time for the playoffs.

No he doesn't , he's still can sign with anyone come July1. Boston can't give him that , and there are plenty of teams that need a goalie, Edmonton being one, and are waiting for Talbot to make up his mind.
He will have his share of offers to be a starter.

I hear Tyler Bunz is available. Labarbera too. :)

Pray Quick stays healthy.

If JQ ever went down, I always had faith in Martin Jones to hold the fort. I can't say the same for any other cheap backup UFA goalie on the market right now.

Wait, you guys want to sign Stephen King?

The Kings will make any goalie better than they are.
