Yep, I think the issue with Drouin is that is has talent, quick hands, good skating but can't seem to be able to handle pressure (and gets injured occasionally). I could see him being traded in the offseason to a team close to the cap floor. However he seems to fit perfectly in the style of team Hughes wants to build so let us see.

I'd say one of the issues with Drouin is our coaching staffs have always wanted to play more defensive and to "systems" which restricts skilled players from using their strengths.

Drouin will have more freedom under MSL to play offensively and the way he wants, I think it makes sense to trade him next year around the deadline and hope he boosts his value by then. Also, he'll be a UFA and we can eat some salary to help boost his return.

He always had a special treatment and longer leash

I hope MSL will push him and confront him about his constant pouting and his effort level..

stop taking it easy on him , make or break time

Apparently, it's not the same wrist...

And he was not even that bad this year if you go down the entire lineup...

He has the best P/GP ratio on the team now that Toffoli was traded.
Somewhat explains why we are 32nd.......if we can get a pick for him, sell now.....his days in the league are numbered.
Such a waste of such amazing talent. No drive, no hustle or anything else needed to be a good player.
Will be glad when he is gone.......Rinse and Repeat Era once again, hitting us right in the a$$....

If there's 1 system that's tailor-made for Drouin, it's the one MSL is implementing right now.
He'll never have high compete level, it's just not in him. But he's a very creative player and slick passer. The players have been given the greenlight to make plays and be creative, and will be rewarded for doing so. Theoretically a dream scenario for Drouin... let's see.

Too soft on the puck.....there is no coach out there, who would really ask for Drouin to be on their team......talented, and flashy, but just too soft.

And brittle...

What exactly is wrong with him now? I know it's the wrist, but what exactly? A sprain? a bone bruise? a fracture, a ligament tear? Always seems to be a secret with him.

I would suspect he has a legitimate wrist injury, probably ligaments or tendons, which sometimes never fully heal.

Trading him right now makes no sense IMO.

I don't think teams are lining up to acquire him.

The smartest thing to do would be to keep him around for the moment.

Honestly, I want to see him back as 2nd C. Then pump his value a bit as a potential 50 point guy who can play C if needed.

Good GMs don't wait for people to line up, they go out and advertise them.

MSL isn't an HFHabs poster. Stop fan-fictioning this whole thing.

are you just trolling ?

Like its far fetched to hope MSL , someone who always been hard on himself and teammate , would confront Drouin who is a notorious low effort , low sacrifice player. Really , that would be very surprising if they clash together , right ?!

Because every actual substantiated article about Drouin paints a complete opposite picture. He's apparently very obsessive about hockey and watches more games than any other player on the team. He'd bug Yzerman in Tampa and ask him the rationale behind moves that had nothing to do with him. His mental issues are no surprise.

All you're doing is getting pissed off about a concept you've just heard repeated by other posters and made up a fake scenario you'd like to see happen. MSL isn't going to start squaring up with injured players. Come on, man.

Do you even watch him play ? Since you are so high on watching games.. well I must have watched 95% of the games he played with the Habs.. Its enough to say he has sadly not improved and been very deficient on the defensive side of the game..

He's a player who has always relied on his talent , he has a huge ego wich gets in the way of him improving..

Articles might paint a picture but what counts , the results , are painting a whole other picture..dont you think ?

Yes, profiles matter more than your pre-existing biases and poor analysis. What the hell are you on about? Him being soft and shit defensively doesn't mean he doesn't care.

Why did he leave TB ?
Why did he fail at center ?
Why is he a net negative on the ice ?
Why did he never improve ?
Why is his effort level shit ?

Everything points to him having character issue .. If anything the puff pieces wich portray him as an obssessive thinker of the game are the fictional parts.

All of that may be true
It does not correlate and equate to JD being a very good player at the nhl level
He has had 7 or 8 years in the league and the only consistent thing we see is excuses
Rinse and Repeat

Imagine going around thinking that articles discussing a man's obsession and how it's affecting him negatively are 'puff pieces'. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking and there's really no need to continue this further.

I think Drouin sucks. Nobody is making excuses for him. He sucks and he busted in Montreal. But that doesn't mean the poster I was quoting is making any sense. They aren't.

I struggle to understand what is your point ? You act like Drouin being low effort is a fiction ? Seriously ?!

I dont believe that because ive read other posters..i believe that from my own eyes.

Like this interview with Chantal where they had to avoid many subject was not a puff piece ?

I have given all the chance to Drouin and I feel like the org has given him PLENTYYY of rope . We have tried to insulate him as possible , feed him PP time even if he was a turnover machine. It did not work. Now I think we might as well try the hard line with him.

I don’t know if he still has sleeping troubles but I’d guess it’s pretty hard to have drive without sleep.
