Makes sense he wouldn't learn that in Montreal. He was brought it to be the guy to teach others which tbh he wasn't ready for, and thankfully no one learned from him.
All I remember of him on the Habs was trying to enter the zone by dekeing right outside the opponents blue line trying to slip the puck between someone's feet and causing a turnover hoping to hit that highlight reel move. Was so frustrating to watch.
Happy for him though, he deserves peace.

Too much pressure going in Montreal he was seen as the Messiah and it doesn't help that he's also french. He was played to be the superstar, the one that will elevates his linemates. He landed in a perfect environment in Colorado where he isn't the guy and if he doesn't want to work to earn his ice time he will be scratched or demoted. Montreal didn't have that luxury I guess and how bad he performed it clearly affected him mentally.
I'm from Quebec I see what media does to players like this. Similar to Price where one night he's the hero and the next game when he loses everyone hates him. Luckily he dealt with it better than most.
