Lol, remember reading your draft thread during 2011, when most of you were so disappointed you picked Brodin instead of Ryan Murphy.

Anyway, congratulations on a great pick up.

I was at the draft and my buddy will vouch that I was visibly irritated that we picked Brodin over Murphy. As the night went on and I was able to read more about Brodin, I grew less angry and more excited.

Now, you see Brodin's rookie season as a 19 year old in the NHL and current me wants to go back in time and slap 2011 me.

I'm an Avs-fan.. Since I'm a swede I did have a chance to watch Brodin before the draft. And we had the pick after yours... Gotta say. I would have liked to pair up Brodin with Erik Johnson right now. Duncan Siemens, who we picked after you, doesn't seem to be close to NHL-ready.

ha! I asked what the ****? to some people at the table and they said just wait until you see him play. Elite skills. Best skater in the draft.
i don't even remember who i wanted, but it would have been a mistake. wasn't Murphy. Beaulieu i think.
eeeek.

LoL at the Brodin draft thread about people complaining. Man where are those guys now?

Seriously what a freaking talent, one of his big weaknesses was "his shot" but that think looks freaking lethal, seriously both this goals are something you expect out of a sniper they were just positioned so well.

Who knows if it was even a weakness or just no one ever saw it. Did his Färjestads coach tell him to keep the gun holstered or what?

He's got two more years on his ELC which is scary because if he keeps developing the way he has we won't be able to afford him.

I'd offer him a Travares extension as soon as we are able to. Right after next season.

the guys i talked to said it was just the position he was put in in SEL, and IIRC a swedish fan or two came over to confirm that underage rookie defensemen were seldom put on PPs or really any situations that were conducive to scoring. They weren't worried about it--thought he'd be average at worst offensively if given the chance.

All I can remember saying is 'Who!?' Its possible but I don't remember getting real worked up about it.

Semi off topic: but does anyone know if Brodin will be sticking with #25?? Want to make sure before getting my Barker jersey switched....

Even if he changes numbers...pretty sure it'll still be better than a Barker jersey...

His shot was his big weakness back home in Sweden. To see a slapshot from Brodin was very rare the 3 seasons he played in our a-team. His wristshot wasn't very good either, but it often hit the target tho.

He said when he went over the pond that his main focus was to put on weight and work on his shot.
Test passed it seems :)
