Tell you what, if there is evidence that Vanbiesbrouck's hiring leads to a noticeable decline in participation of black hockey players at the international and local level, then by all means continue to criticize USA Hockey for this decision.

Until then, you're wasting your energy complaining about something that hasn't even happened.

Ah yes, USA Hockey hired the guy with history of calling his own players by unspeakable racial slurs, but you can't criticize it unless there is a "noticeable decline in participation of black hockey players at the international and local level," which was already statistically close to zero to begin with. Yes, of course. Really good take, bro. You definitely care about this issue, and you have won the day by using logic, and reason.

I think all of us have said this decision isn't the most ideal one, and that USA Hockey is going to hear **** on it. they could have announced it better with a letter from Beezer himself which could have gone a long way..or could have picked someone else a bit more qualified lol!

I will give the guy a chance to prove those right or wrong, he deserves whatever opportunity comes his way as over 15 years never heard a bad thing since on the guy...no crimes committed and no careers destroyed. it might not look good to some, and that is fine, but have to give the guy a chance to give back and hopefully be a positive change for a lot of kids moving forward.

What basis do you have for saying any of this?

Quite a few people in here that seem to have never made a mistake in their lives as human beings.

Must be nice to have a perfect record in life.

He screwed up and he paid a pretty heavy price for it, you can't see it in your heart to maybe give a guy some forgiveness and a second chance after all this time?

I sure hope you can all keep your unblemished record because maybe you will never be allowed to live down the blunder you may make yet. Something tells me if/when it happens you won't think that is very fair from your fellow human judge, jury and executioners.

He did not murder anyone, start a a genocide, or initiate world war 3 here.

Although I am not surprised to see this attitude here, it's pretty dissapointing in my opinion. Not much humility or reflection on mistakes we all make on display here.

If U.S hockey hired him for this position then I am sure they know the attitudes/mistake engaged in has been dealt with and he highly regrets his past actions/attitudes and has corrected it or I am sure he would have never gotten this job.

Cmon guys, give the guy a chance at least, we would all like to be given a second chance if we made a mistake in life but are truly regretful and have learned and changed for the better because of it.

1st Bolded: what "heavy price" did he pay?

2nd Bolded: Wow, I didn't realize Beezer had been tried and executed already. That's wild, man. How could USA Hockey hire a deceased convict to run their hockey ops. This certainly does cast doubts on their leadership!

3rd Bolded: Come on, with this....

4th Bolded: Uhhhhhh...maybe "mistakes" you make? Not everyone makes these mistakes, bro. I would venture a guess that any white person who has played hockey has heard these "mistakes" from teammates and understands they are not "mistakes" but instead just regular modes of speaking in a place where it is assumed no one will object.

Perhaps you are telling on yourself? Or, wait - lemme guess - you are the least racist person who has ever existed? My mistake, sorry bro.

You don't say?!? Because here you are, conflating two completely unrelated things in order to attempt to make the point that racism doesn't matter by invoking a grieving family's capacity for human compassion on a completely unrelated issue. Perhaps you should delete this before someone asks the family you are referring to what they think of your post. Or maybe someone can delete it for you.
I can't believe what you just wrote here but whatever.

I am not deleting anything sir, I have no reason to.

I am simply not comfortable with the kind of attitude you and others seem to have, namely................unforgiveness.

I wasn't raised this way and I don't believe in the way you look at things and I for one am glad I don't , I actually feel sorry for you.

Where you get that I say racism does not matter from my posts is beyond me but think as you wish, or rather, make stuff up in your head as you wish, i don't really care, I know who i am and I am fine with it.

And I am fine with forgiveness and seconds chances, if you aren't, so be it.

I have said all i am going to say to you in my previous post, I don't waste too much time with people with your attitude. You can think as you wish but I for one am not going to go through life like that.

Forgiveness is all well and good, but should racism be forgiven automatically?
If the person is truly regretful and changed(i at the very least sure hope he is and has proven it, which I would have to think U.S.A hockey has looked into) then I would hope that after 15 years that yes, forgiveness can happen.

15 years is far from automatically after all.

Out of curiosity, what are you forgiving that I am not?

In an interview with the Athletic today, Vanbiesbrouck would like to remind us that HE'S the victim of all of this.

Why has Vanbiesbrouck made no attempts to reach out to Daley over the years — the NHL veteran is, after all, not particularly hard to find?

“But neither am I,” Vanbiesbrouck replied. “I’m not that hard to find.”

When suggested that most people would put the onus on Vanbiesbrouck to reach out to try to make amends with Daley, he agreed.

“I would love for that to happen. I’m here. And I wish he was here and sitting down with us right now,” Vanbiesbrouck said.

“I know that, look it, I know I paid a high price. You know? Is that justice well served?” Vanbiesbrouck added.

Can't believe in the current political culture he got this job. I would have thought his reputation was toxic at this point.

I would argue that because of the current political culture this is the best time for the hire.
