John Tortorella ejected 10 minutes into game, refused to leave (upd: fined $50k and suspended 2 games)

McCauley should have called his bluff and made the Flyers forfeit. I never would have stopped laughing.

People don't pay to watch Torts coach any more than they pay to watch McCauley ref, but you can't make a mockery of the sport like this. If you get ejected, leave the rink. Period.
I don’t know what torts did to get ejected but the refs(police) wrongfully accuse people all the time and we should just
Put up with it?

F that.

I'm surprised the refs don't mic up all the fans so they can boot out any fan that tosses heckles their way

That was beautiful.

f*** Wes mcwhatever

Most garbage ref in the league.

More coaches need to stand up

Pretty funny that McCauley never came over to the bench and the other three officials did.

I wonder what would happen if he just completely refused to leave. Delay of game penalty? Forfeit? It would be interesting to see.

I think people here who are questioning why torts is being celebrated are missing the boat.

The clip is funny. At the end of the day, it's about about entertainment, and if you can't find humor in torts acting like a child who didn't get his candy, while flailing around his casted up hand, then we just have a different sense of humor. Even the 2004 alumni in the suite were clearly having alot of fun with it.

It can be both funny and pathetic...

No doubt there was entertainment value, but for a guy who likes to talk in patronizing ways about other people's behaviours (most recently about the entitlement attitude he perceives in young players today), his hypocrisy and lack of class are pretty evident and pretty sad.

It's one thing for players to opt out of the role model responsibility/opportunity their status affords them, it's another for coaches to.

The toxicity & lack of respect towards officials (mostly teens and adult volunteers) in youth sports has never been worse...

How many hot head youth coaches will watch this clip and feel that much more emboldened to "stick it" to some pimple faced teen ref?

Torts needs to do better. And I suspect that away from the act, he knows it to. Behaving like a petulant child because you don't like the refs call might be a fun way to let off steam, but it hardly reflects the leadership tone or team first mindset he otherwise is quick to preach

I guess it's entertaining but it's also embarrassing. He was never going to win that argument and just looked like a spoiled child refusing to leave. Not sure why acting like a baby is praiseworthy but whatever.

If any fan is feeling "embarrased" by it, my opinion is that it's been taken too seriously. This is hockey, not brain surgery.

When I saw it, I had a huge smile on my face, and forwarded the clip to a bunch of friends and family who happen to follow hockey.

Hopefully none of them coach any sports, or have enough sense to recognize how embarrassing & toxic that behaviour is and won't look to emulate it

So let me get this straight: everyone who stands up for himself because he's getting bent over is just a crybaby for not just taking it?

Also you are the one crying about "harming the game" then all the harm was a 2-minute pause in it.
You can stand up for yourself without looking so pathetic doing it. He made his point about his

Same, thought it was funny and shared with friends - but mostly to laugh at Torts for being so pathetic
