John Tortorella ejected 10 minutes into game, refused to leave (upd: fined $50k and suspended 2 games)

Now I'm curious who the ref was that tossed Cronin earlier this year and if it's the same guy.

At some point Torts should be fed up enough to just open his checkbook at the start of a news conference, and then just let it all out.

McCauley used to be the man and now he’s just a sensitive little bitch.

I’m the night they were honoring him and the 2004 cup team in Tampa. Pretty pathetic by Wes
Maybe it's just me, but the only one who seemed to act like a "sensitive little bitch" here was the coach who threw a tantrum. Not sure what's to celebrate about Tortorella acting like a toddler.

It's truly astonishing that anyone would support a coach for doing something like that. It's downright pitiful behaviour, regardless of whether the ref made the right decisions or not. Just more of the "do whatever you want, treat others like garbage" behaviour that is so harmful to society right now. You hardly could set a more shameful example for youth-hockey if you tried. If you don't get your way, just scream and shout and act offended. Afterwards you get lauded for your "tough stance", when in fact you were the opposite of tough, you were a crybaby. There is criticism - and in some cases even harsh criticism is warranted - and then there is undermining the integrity of the game out of your own personal vanity. Tortorella did the latter. He very much could have made a statement about the refereeing in the game without harming the game itself, but he opted not to.

And since when should someone get preferential treatment just because he got honored at that game?
There certainly is no such thing in the rulebook. It would in fact be utterly ridiculous to treat someone differently just because someone opted to honour the person that day. The rules are the rules. You can't adhere to them, tough luck, you don't get a get out of jail free card just because you did well at some point in the past. This "give freebies to special people" is exactly what is wrong with the game. A player shouldn't get calls for or against him based on his skill-level or status, they should be called on the infractions that have been committed. The same applies to coaches. Enough of that "you can't call that, he is a respected veteran player! you can't call that, it is a special night for him! you can't call that, it's the playoffs!" nonsense. An act is either worthy of a penalty or it is not.

So let me get this straight: everyone who stands up for himself because he's getting bent over is just a crybaby for not just taking it?

Also you are the one crying about "harming the game" then all the harm was a 2-minute pause in it.

Standing up for himself by yelling “f you, you can’t tell me what to do!”

Profiles in courage.

Love torts.

Screw that douchebag McCauley and the idiot refs in this league
Wes McAuley will have a Hans in awarding the cup
If Bettman suspends Torts how about demanding the rule book be enforced
Especially down tye stretch and in the playoffs
Every body on the ice is accountable except them
The nhl needs to find 20 good men or woman and say"heres the book follow it and that's it
No more even up calls or blatant non calls
Pay them real well .
I'd say "starting pay 1millon
Start advertising world wide on INDEED
LOL
the refereeing has been just horrendous this year
That's on Bettman and bald DALEY

“I’m not going! I’m staying right f***in’ here! f*** you!”
Yep, Love Torts but after giving a show.... Torts when down the tunnel.

Torts looked like a barking dog without intend to bite. If I would have been McAuley, I would have given him a additional 2 for delay of game!!

Wes should have went over and at least addressed him, he didn’t.

The refs shouldn’t have called everything against the Flyers including phantom nonsense that weren’t penalties.

Ersson should have you know, stopped a puck.

Either way, it had to be done. Wes can’t get away with some of the shit and try to be bigger than the game.

Torts has the heart of a showman.

COMPLY -bzzt- COMPLY

IF YOU DO -bzzzt- NOT COMPLY, YOU ARE -bzzzt- A WHINY PISS BABY

COMPLY -bzzzt-

Some of you need more Rage Against the Machine in your lives.

f*** you I won’t do what you tell me.

That’s a lyric, folks, I am kidding.

Yes Killing In the Name is a great song, but if you scream “F you, I won’t do what you tell me” and then comply as soon as a mild punishment happens, you’re not raging against the machine, you’re a child throwing a fit.

If Torts truly wanted to take some big stand against corrupt officials, then have the guts to take a stand. Don’t scream at them for 2 minutes and then meekly comply once they call an extra 2 minute minor against you.
