It's a pretty well known fact that Torts does an excellent job of whipping players into shape and creating a structured locker room and environment.
The problem is that his methods cause him to lose the room within 2-3 seasons. Almost all of the Jackets players seemingly loved the guy but it wears on a person. And as the team became more skilled it was obvious he wasn't the coach the locker room needed anymore.

He gets shamed or whatever you want to call it (I’d call it simply not respected), because he acts and talks like a complete a*shole all the time. ‘The truth’ is one of those defences that a*sholes use to justify acting like one… as if sprinkling a touch of truth into a pile of horsesh*t justifies delivering it like a total jerk.

The game will lose one of its most colorful characters the day Torts retires. I wish more coaches were like him comment wise. Nothing ambiguous about Torts's comments.
