In other words he means players nowadays play more on instinct rather than by following what’s written on paper. Players are much more adaptable today than they were before. These systems aren’t all different from the game before or from coach to coach. Players tend to overthink however compared to the past and he went on to say it’s best to just let them play and not get into their way.

That’s literally all he meant.
