What an analysis. Does WPG have a rocket winner playing ahead of PLD?

Imagine using the word triggered. Enjoy your 10 game sample size i'll stick to the other 800 games.

No, they have a C that Paul Maurice trusts more than JT playing ahead of PLD when he's done his covid rehab.

I'm not shitting on JT, he'd be sharing 2nd/3rd line minutes. Maurice has his favourites, and PLD is everything Mo wants in a C.

Tavares has 800 games of evidence because he is older.

Tavares is still great.

Teams Tavares would not be a 1C on:

Boston
Florida
Tampa
Toronto
Carolina
NYR
Philadelphia
Pittsburgh
Washington
Colorado
Edmonton
Vancouver
Currently he'd probably be above Petterson and Backstrom/Kuz
Many teams would probably reconfigure center/wingers so that the best talent is in the top 6.
No way Vancouver plays one of Horvat, Petterson or Tavares on the 3rd line.

Currently top line with the injuries to Crosby and Malkin, but he'd be 3C if all three were healthy.

Of course, one of the three would be moved to the wing in the case all were healthy, but for purposes of where he'd be on the depth chart at natural positions, he'd be 3C.

I think sometimes people are too focused on depth chart rather than how lines would realistically sort out. You don’t put Tavares on the 3rd line. If he’s in Edmonton, say, either McDrai are put together and he centres the 2nd or he plays with one of them.

Let's be real. If Tavares was on the Oilers they'd just play all three of McDavid, Draisaitl, and Tavares on one line. :sarcasm:

Yeah, no thanks. Backstrom hasn't played this season, but over the last 2 seasons they both have a 0.92 PPG. Backstrom is way better defensively. Also, Backstrom is covering for OV which I doubt Tavares can do since he can't skate which is why Marner has been doing the heavy lifting for him for years. Kuznetsov is playing way better than Tavares right now.

I'd put him on the 4th, but also put the two best wingers on the team with him, make it the best 4th line in the league, make them play the most minutes and everything.

1st liner easily in Anaheim. Getzlaf has looked good so far this year but he’s realistically a 2-3C, Tavares would definitely slot in ahead of him.

Probably third. Scheifele is better than him and PLD looks just as good if not better than Scheifele this season.

Before you leafs fans rage because I have this opinion, remember PLD is 23 and one of the younger players in the league. I and many other fans believe this is the new norm for him.

In theory, he would be 3C. More likely however, McDrai would remain and Johnny T would patrol line #2
Yep pretty much. He'd be a distant 3rd best C on the team, but the Oilers would definitely roll him in the top 6.
