What a start he's had. He still looks like a star calibre centre and playing like his 1st year here. He and Willy have fantastic chemistry and complement each other well. Even though the dubas fans(dubasites) were getting mocked at for defending a signing, he clearly hasn't regressed all that much and is still a great player.
Always one of my favorites on the team.

When people say JT is washed or can't play the game no more.

He is playing like what is expected , should have waited for the appreciation thread until playoffs though

Lots of people bashing him time and time again, Johnny's just out here playing hockey

Indeed. He's a coaches dream, a pro who you can always count on to do his job game after game the best he can, and that's pretty damn good. Man that was a sweet pass to Nylander to get things started last night. JT's a beauty!

If Johnny T could skate well he would be top 3 in points every year.

Johnny T skates just fine, if that wasn't case then he wouldn't have been one of the automatic selections to Team Canada throughout his prime.

Just gotta keep kerfoot out of the face-off circle, the guy is perpetually at roughly 40%.

All the work that gets put in honing their hockey skills, positioning, schemes, compete, etc. yet defense is way easier when you start with the puck. It really helps that every center is well north of 50%.

Tavares is that guy who just comes out on top on those little one-on-one (sometimes one-on-two) plays in tight: getting a shot away with very little room to operate, tapping a puck forward in a scramble into the net or to teammate in scoring position, recovering the puck for his linemates, getting into position to deflect a point shot. These aren't spectacular plays but they're bread and butter plays of pro hockey as was stated earlier.

JT is the Tim Duncan of the NHL.

No fun in fundamentals. Silent superstar. Does everything right. Plays in the dirty areas of the ice, isn't afraid to take the abuse, and when he gets the chances to bury he usually does.

Hardly will ever wow you, but he just produces all the time. It's looking more and more that he will be able to fulfill his entire 7 year deal at a high level no problem TBH. he's in year 4 of the deal, and he seems to be playing his best hockey of his career arguably

"We don't need you"

That thread on the mains is hilarious, we have some nucks/jets/isles fans claiming he'd be their 3rd line C...lmao.

He's been great this year, easily our most complete forward and to me he's been our MVP (skaters only, Soup is the man) He's doing it all. Scoring/Defending/Faceoffs, a real complete player.

He's been excellent but I would say Marner has been the 'most complete forward' all things considered.
