John Tavares appreciation thread

This last game is all on Tavares. The captain thing doesn't matter, the salary doesn't matter, etc. He started the ball rolling on a 5-1 lead against Ottawa. He has to be better.
 
Tavares is a big reason we blew this game. His giveaway before the end of the second was inexcusable. He had plenty of those tonight and was a non-factor in every other facet of the game.

I don’t know what the f*** is wrong with him but he better figure it the f*** out, and fast.

He’s invisible out there this year. Seems to have lost a step
 
He's worse than invisible... He literally gives up the puck every time he has it. Soft. Dumb. Not sure what is going on with him.

I actually thought he skated pretty well for the first half of the game and got mixed up nicely in a crash and bang game with Hyman out there on his line, but man the guy cannot make a damn play to save his life. Unless it's feathering a pass to set up Nick Paul.

Idk why but he's trying to be way too cute with the puck. Just awful turnovers all night. Hard to remember a worse game for JT. He has to be better than this, we can't be dogging on him for 10 game stretches every few months.
 
Yes agree with what you guys say, skating well but decisions with the puck are prob worst on the team. Maybe he needs a break from 88.
 
He had his second child lately.

I don't know who said it, one of the fantasy hockey guys, but there's a pattern of of players performing poorly the season during/after the second one is born. Tavares is certainly not hurting that theory.

I don't know, there are a lot of games where looks this bad. His breakdowns just don't result in immediate goals against.
 
Iles return game, Ayers game, tonight. We sure have managed to rack up several embarassing losses during Tavares' emotionless tenure in the Blue & White.

I think Fred Vanvleet had a child during the NBA conference finals vs Miluwakee. He proceeded to shootout the lights, help drag his team back from 0-2 and win a 'chip. But I guess that's not how everyone's wired.

Nah, he's been lifeless for a few weeks and he struggled for most of last year, but this was a new low for him. When he's off his game he's slow and doesn't win his battles and can't create offense. This nasty pattern of throwing pucks away all over the place is new.
