The whining here is ridiculous.

I understand people didn't get what they wanted to on Loui, but I don't understand why everyone is up in arms here.

We clearly need any defensive depth we can get, and Liles gives us that. No, he's not a top pairing D-man, but if we want to do ANYTHING at all (like win a game or two) in the playoffs, we need help on the blue line.

I think its getting safe to say that its actually a good thing.

It's gonna be great when none of our young defensemen have playoff experience when we are rolling a top 6 of Chara, McQuaid, Seidenberg, Liles and Miller.

At least we can throw Torey Krug in there.

So we are most likely looking at:
Chara/Seidenberg
Liles/McQuaid
Krug/Miller

What a time to be alive.

To advanced stats lovers. Top tier shot suppressor. Probably doesn't win us the cup, but he does actually help this team.

If that's not cup quality, I don't know what is.

Hey, it would probably have been nice 4 years ago. And that's with Krug in college.

Krug has already 2 playoffs under his belt. I don't think that experience is the key to everything. Didn't we go through Lashoff, Hunwick, Kampfer and Bartkowski as promising PMD's through the years? All ended up as fringe unreliable bottom pairing players at best. Exactly what they were here to begin with.

Carolina fans say he was one of their better dmen this year. Not the offensive player he was in years past, but much better in his own zone.

Personally, this is my lesser of the two trades the Bruins made today. But I'm hoping that he comes in and surprises everyone. His advanced stats and possession metrics are not that bad and looks to be at first glance better than Kris Russel's were this year. I haven't had a chance to look at his HERO chart yet.
