Am not really seeing anything that would make teams that watched Brannstrom pass through waivers yesterday decide they need an older and more brittle offense-first third-pairing defensman.

Would be a bigger gamble becuase he is coming off major surgery but Klingberg at least has shown he is capable of creating offense at the NHL level that is beyond replacement level.

One of those teams is going to sign him over trading for a legit dman like Provorov or Pettersson and they are going to be sorely disappointed.
Leafs cant really afford to go after either of those guys

Dont want to deal Cowan/Greb and probably Minten for rentals

We dont have a 2025 1st so a 2026 1st likely gets outbid

Danford was a recent 1st but not sure if hes retaining a 1st round value as of yet.

If we go after D Im hoping its someone with term so even if we put a 1st + Cowan/Danford/Greb on the table.we get a guy who sticks here for a while

WOW…. Ok
short memory
2-3 teams (ok maybe makes sense)
5-7 teams (ummmmmm why?)

This guy was attrocious in toronto
Like this guy bled scoring chances at the worst rate on Toronto by a pretty substantial margin.

Isn’t this the surgery that’s ended the career of every player who’s had it, with the lone exception being Patrick Kane? Seems unlikely he’ll be able to come back and skate at the level needed for an NHL defenseman.

Toronto is so strange to me for some reason.

Like they were glad he was done for the season he was so bad.
im guessing they would have no problem burying the contract if need be and it wont affect the cap if buried

really depends on if klingberg wants to go to a team where their might be a slight guarantee of ice time/playing time or if its situation where he wants a contender

He’s 32, not 42. If his hip was potentially the cause of his issues, and he comes cheap, why wouldn’t you take that gamble? It wasn’t that long ago he was a ~50 point, top pairing dman. I definitely wouldn’t want to sign him to a contract that can’t be buried, but he could potentially be a free top 4 dman, even if he’s not a long term fit
