For those with medical knowledge, how successful would groin reconstructive surgery be, and the probability of future groin issues?

I don't think we will ever get enough information to answer that. It depends on the individual's personal anatomy, and what injuries have already occurred.

Not my speciality.

If you told me we could get an elite (top 5ish) goalie for Gibson++ and make it work financially I'd do it in a heartbeat. I just don't see any way it's feasible with Perry wasting so much space.

In the trade board some crazy things people propose Ducks trading for Price who is UFA after 1 season. Examples are

Gibson, Fowler, Silfverberg

or

Gibson, Theodore, Rakell

Price for Gibson+ Ritchie/Theodore +Rakell

I wouldn't even trade any of those for Price if his contract lasted for a few more seasons because we can't affor to weaken our forward group.

Yeah those examples are ridiculous, but NJ fans have been amenable to a deal with Gibson + Vatanen for Schneider as the main pieces, which I think would greatly improve our immediate chances of winning.

Gibson and Vatanen for Schnedier is better but we need to improve our forward group. With Vatanen involved in a trade for a goalie it will be harder to trade for a good forward.

We sink or swim with Gibson, no need to waste assets to get a marginal upgrade on a far older goaltender. Use those assets to strengthen a position we actually need to strengthen in (ie goalscorers)

This is not trolling or anything, this is just my opinion and many others here in the Vancouver media (Huge debate on this on patcast)(A podcast with jeff patterson, you can google it).

The Anaheim ducks would win the cup if they traded for Ryan Miller. I truly believe this is true also, the blues were such a bad fit for him, and hes been absolutely outstanding for the Canucks who have god awful rosters, and huge injuries.

The Ducks missed a massive opportunity to not at least get a capable back up encase gibson struggled, or was hurt.

Look at the pens with Fleury/Murray, you need two legit NHL goalies in the playoffs in this NHL era.

Unless you have like a Price/Rinne type. I truly believe that the ducks missed the boat big time. And a ton of blame needs to be put on the GM for not fixing this problem when they had a chance.

Gibson needs to do some yoga and isolated muscle lifting. Strengthens up those legs and get some more flexibility going. He might already be flexible(needs to be, to be a goalie) but he could lack strength in stabilizer muscles. Get him on a single leg deadlift/reverse lunge/regular lunge/weighted box step ups/squat plan.

That's your opinion, but I absolutely call ********. Bernier was fantastic after the trade deadline. He was so good in fact that many here, and in the media, were wondering if he should be the starter come playoff time.

Don't get me wrong, he was awful in that last game. I would say that we lost that game because of goaltending. However, that's not entirely why we lost the series. We lost in the playoffs because our team didn't have enough depth to begin with, but there's no way it could handle key losses to players, especially Rakell and Eaves. Consistency. You can't be dominate one night and complete **** the other. Nashville was consistently the better team in that series, and they deserved the win.

Therefore, no, we didn't just lose (not win the cup) because Ryan Miller wasn't added. That's ********, and not sure why you feel the compelling need to come in here and say that to a fanbase still reeling from a brutal loss. I know that you've always been too outspoken on HF (you're the guy who was saying Kesler to Detroit was done before he was traded to Anaheim), but pick your spots better bud.

I don't think we're going to get a young forward much better than Kapanen for Vatanen to begin with. I think if you really want a higher level young forward Theo would have to go.

Bernier did a great job in regular season, not a great playoff. He was a net gain.

Gibson is amazing, a bit weird, and seems to be a hipster DB. In other words,am typicalmweird goalie!!

No sources, but we seem to have an issue with guys training....and there was a lot of smoke around Gibson showing up expecting to be the guy, and not being physically ready to beat out Freddy.
He has elite potential, but I hope he is working up to that potential

Same crap as earlier in the year when we had the contract holdouts. People see Anaheim and suddenly every homer trade in their brain seems plausible.

Bernier did great in 1 of the 3 playoff games he played in. He completely **** the bed when they needed him most.

Gibson I think is done (Elite wise), Ducks will need to acquire a goalie.

Gibson doesn't have great movement side to side and with this latest injury I bet he will get worse.

What? A day-to-day hamstring injury is going to permanently affect his mobility? :help:

I mean, Price basically is the Habs, so one could almost understand where those fans are coming from. Only "almost", though, because it's still goddamn ridiculous.

One of the worst takes I've seen in a while on here, and there have been a bunch of nonsensical emotional overreactions.

I would do Perry and Gibson for price. even better if we they are willing to move galchenyuk and we add Ritchie/jones.

1) I highly doubt Perry waives to play in MTL.
2) MTL isn't going to touch that deal anyways. A possibly declining winger who put up one of the worst years of his career, who's on the wrong side of 30 and carries with him a pretty bad contract. And Price > Gibson.

That being said, people need to stop jumping off the ship already. Gibson's only 23. Where do you think Montreal would be right now if they had kept Halak?

Gibson probably wont be elite and able to finish a whole season + postseason until hes at least 27 or 28. By then it will be too late for this team. Price is about that age but he has had injury problems somewhat recently also. Trading Gibson for Price is risky and probably not worth the gamble.

I know this is a crazy idea but what about Lundqvist? Hes going to retire soon and probably wants one last chance to win a cup, which wont happen with the Rangers. He hasnt been that great with the Rangers recently but the defense in front of him has always been really bad, but he still kept them in a lot of games. One thing you can rely on him to do is be ready to play every night, make the stops that he should make, frequently make highlight reel stops, and be durable enough to play a full season / postseason. Its a total fantasy but it would be really awesome. He makes 9 milion right now and has a 4 years left on his deal. Doubt he would ever pass up that kind of money for a buyout.

Lundqvist played 5 more games then Gibson this year, and has had quite a few injury troubles 2 of the last 3 seasons (and at his age that's more significant). Not to mention, it would be dumb to have an 8.5m cap hit on a 35 year old goalie.
