Actually this is pretty good for us. Maybe the isles could be a more marquee product with Collins on board.

I drove by a few weeks ago and it seemed like the construction in the surrounding area was moving along pretty quickly from when I was there in February/March.
That mall should be done by October. Will be nice to have other dining options in the area.

Lee does score goals, yes, but the rest of him game is so abysmal that I’d rather lose those goals and see what else we could do with that 7M. But, we’re stuck with him so it is what it is.

Is it that bad? Or is it just fast food only?
Far as I know only place around to eat not inside the arena is the Belmont, and the service this year was dog shit. They gotta at least throw an Applebees in the new mall, no?

I think Scott Malkin will do better than an Applebees.

“In the air tonight” came on today, I had always thought he was saying “hold on”, learned for the first time it’s actually “oh lord”. Feel like it’s all been a pack of a lies!

Collins coming and taking a minor ownership interest is to set him up for NHL ownership in the future.

The Isles have embedded themselves in the top of the NHL with Lou and Collins. Also, another reason Lou ain’t going anywhere because Lou keeps the Isles in that circle.

Collins is going to drive business to increase the valuation of the franchise. His ownership interest is to get him in the door towards leading an ownership group down the line as the NHL looks very favorably on minority owners when evaluating new ownership groups in team sale transactions.

Malkin probably exits 2-3 years after the retail is completed as Value Retail can still manage the retail village independently of the team/UBS. And the entire property will have lofty numbers. Essentially, a sale of the Islanders more than pays for the village development, it’s ‘free’ due to increase in franchise value.

I do wonder if MSG/YES/SNY networks change down the road. if the isles are smart, they go on SNY when MSG is over
Mets deal with SNY ends in 2030 I believe (maybe 2035?). I can definitely see Steve Cohen creating his own network. As it stands now, SNY doesn't share much profit with the Mets. Which is pretty much antithetical to having a regional sports network owned by the (at the time) teams owners.

It also means that we can hope that UBS develops further, meaning NHL drafts can take place at our place for once

There is a huge gap between the slop offered on Route 24 (Trotters aside), and the stratosphere priced, nicer slop, available in the arena.

If a Millers or some other crappy basic, unimpressive chain is there, Ill be disappointed but certainly not surprised.

Maybe we'll get a Yard House on the property :sarcasm:
