Player Discussion John Beecher

If this guy gets 80 games played this year, he’s got to be in the running for the least effective season by a forward in Bruins history.

I mean, of course there were less effective players…….but I can’t imagine anyone has played well over 90% of the games in a season and has done less.

The most vanilla player on the roster. Has not improved a lick since he turned pro. Skates fast in a straight line. Doesn't go the net. Doesn't win battles in the dirty areas. He's tall. Skates well. Was a first round pick. That's it. That's the resume.

I remember watching him at the World Juniors and every time he touched the puck he skated it right into a pile of bodies, like he had no clue where to go once he got the puck on his stick. His lack of hockey sense keeps him from being an effective NHL player despite NHL caliber feet. Even with strong skating he's chasing the play most of the time, gets very little accomplished. On a stronger team he's probably in the AHL. I'd be fine if he wasn't qualified as an RFA this summer. Replace him with a smarter hockey player.

I know a bunch of folks in here love beating up on this guy but that Kopetke Beecher and Kastelic line was lights out to start the season before getting shuffled up into the top 9 to try and plug holes and production.

I'd have no problem bringing them back as line 4. Geekie Lindholm Pastrnak at line one and then piece together a middle six from the rest of the misfit toys.

I agree, but being a 4C on a bad hockey team is a very vulnerable position to be in….Not a lot of job security there at the moment.

Go back and read the the pages thru March 15, 2024. Not a single criticism of Beecher by almost every poster with the exception of Bruins Dust. I would QO him. Was terrible this year but I give him one more shot.

If your gonna name drop me at least quote me properly.

He's been gifted two full seasons to become an effective NHLer and it hasn't happened. 4th line two consecutive years now has been a non-factor. That cannot continue of they want success.

His hockey sense is among the worst I've ever seen at the NHL level and cannot be corrected. Just another player with natural athletic gifts that they believed they could teach how to play.

All that being said I'd wager Sweeney qualifies him.

Sign him and put him on a very short leash, he's had ample opportunity on a long leash and shown nothing...don;' let him block someone from the AHL who can actually progress his game

Take it as me giving you credit, I wasn't criticising you. Just a quick synopsis of what people were thinking.

I'm surprised more people aren't criticizing this player.

His first 5 games of the year, 2 goals and 3 assists.

His next 73 games of the year, 1 goal, 5 assists. From Game 6 onward he totaled one more point than he did in the first 5. That has to be a rare feat in the NHL.

I am not going to run and hide from what I have said about Beecher, I really thought he could develop into decent player, I missed it.

He was bad enough that it was debatable that Marc McLaughlin could have outplayed him.

I thought Beecher had solid potential as a decent to good 4th line guy. Completely whiffed.

I posted it weeks ago….I cannot imagine a player who played over 90% of his teams games, being less effective than he was this year.

I guess we could probably find a season of two from a 90’s/early 2000’s goon who may have…..but at the very least you could argue that the goon at least brought some entertainment/energy…but if this guy is in the lineup opening night, I’ll be about as close to giving up as I could ever be.

He was legit one of if not the worst NHL regular in the league this year. He brings nothing to the table.

With the puck he skates it into traffic and makes bad decisions. Without the puck he's constantly chasing the play.

To me he's just another Max Jones or Riley Tufte. Players with the athletic gifts to be effective players, but don't have the hockey IQ to capitalize on those gifts at the NHL level.

78 games played, 3 goals, 8 assists, 11 points, -9

41 games played, 3 goals, 5 assists, 8 points, +7

One of these players in John Beecher, the other is Matt Rempe. Take that in for a second.
