Alleluia! Amirante is classic MSG. I hate how Dolan recruits (or at least I imagine he does) all these randoms to sing the anthems, fancying himself quite the musician. It should be John Amirante, every night, without exception.

@NYRangers: Tomorrow night John Amirante will make his 2013 #NYR debut singing the National Anthem @TheGarden! RT to show your support #AmiranteIsBack

Pretty inconsequential. No idea why we still sing national anthems before the game.

Which is why I love when John Amirante does it. He gets on the ice, sings the song, and gets off. None of this **** where you get some random person just signed to a record deal who insists on making the Anthem a drawn out spectacle.

Love John. Sure he's lost his ability to hit the high notes, (think:"Over the land of the free,) but he loves singing to the Garden crowd. He pumps the fans up. LGR chants b/w the anthem are always louder when he's singing.

Yeah. If you're going to sing the song, you might as well sing it TheRightWay.

I don't care if Neil Diamond is singing the National Anthem, so long as they don't try bringing endangered species out onto the ice and make a fool of themselves.

You know, I never really cared all too much for Amirante, but he has kind of grown into a bit of a cult hero for me as part of Garden lore. Happy that we get to see him tomorrow.

Amirante is either 77 or 78 years old (he was 66 when the Rangers played their first game after 9/11). So that'll give you an idea of why he can't hit the high notes anymore.

I would love if the Rangers could find someone to replace him who sings the anthem like him. All of these other people don't cut it.

So if I were a Jets fan I should have liked fireman ed? If I didn't that would make me not a fan?

Lets not compare a talented singer who struggles a bit in old age to some annoying bald headed guy who likes to lead the ever so lovely J-E-T-S chant.

Equating John Amirante to Fireman Ed is the worst comparison ever and doesn't even make sense. One is a legend and Garden staple who has been singing the national anthems for years, and the other is a hack fan who gave up on his team.

Do you even know who The Chief was?
