Sooo... how we doing gang? Are we ok with this? I need to know how to feel.

Positives
D should not be an issue outside of injury for 5-10 years.
Save around 2 million dollars on Jones's long term contract versus what we'd had to pay Johansen
Johansen's heart problem and energy concern is no longer ours
Inspires more of a pack mentality on offense
We don't have to worry about a contentious extension

Negatives
We have a hole at that elusive elite C spot that Johansen could have filled
We'll miss Joey on the left wing side on the powerplay and now feel very "left handed" save Atkinson
We lose our best right handed centerman on draws and otherwise
We as an organization couldn't get an elite player to emerge from Johansen
We had a rare rare rare big, skilled centerman that teams drool over
I think Joey was well liked in the locker room
We traded one of the few players casual fans would know and one who had a chance to be the guy in the city.

How I'll feel depends on what else we will be able to do before August. Right now, it's meh.

I'm good with it. Something had to be done. We got a potentially great player and we didn't get totally get screwed. Think there may be more to come.

I have a feeling there's another deal or two yet to come.

You certainly have to wonder if this now makes the CBJ a player in the Drouin sweepstakes to be another "prospect" for lack of a better term to replace Johansen. Perhaps this is where Rychel comes into play. I think a deal could be made there.

The question is if Drouin is worth it in my mind. I have a bit of a gut feeling that he is just blaming Tampa for his own inability to crack the lineup on a regular basis and he could just be a bust no matter what team he plays for.

I am with you on this. I feel like Jarmo has his fingers in that pie. Drouin for Rychel+. Another hockey trade.

even the resident preds fan hates this for us.

Yes. That is discouraging.

What's encouraging is that she said she was done if we traded Joey. And she also put Jones up there with Shattenkirk and Tanev as acceptable returns (based on Jones' potential, I'm sure). So it's clear it's not the return, but the trade of Joey.

We did it in a bass-ackwards way, but you ARE supposed to build from the back out.

We have Bob and (at least) two really good young goaltenders. The defense took a step toward respectability today. The offense is far from horrid and there's more offense in the pipeline with a high pick coming in a forward-heavy draft.

God I hope not. Drouin is one of those prospects who won't pan out IMO. Tries too hard to play like he did in juniors. Won't cut it. No thanks

Assuming that he and his Dad haven't totally soured on Columbus, I think we'd be better off to bring Rychel up and move Boone Jenner to center (his natural position).

Welp , we all know Johansen has had attitude / motivation issues that management has called out the past few years . We had the ugly contract issue with his agent , and many felt once this contract was up, he would leave anyway . I for one , felt while RyJo has great talent , many nights he's become invisible like Rick Nash does. When he wants to dominate , he can , at will , problem is , that's not that often . Not to mention whatever mysterious illness / heart issue that may be there . Seth Jones is a cornerstone defenseman . If we land Matthews , Puljujarvi, or Laine . Our center problems are solved .
Does anyone think Rychel is called up to take A forward spot

The two most talented players, Nash and Joey, that have ever been drafted by the CBJ have shown that they are not interested in staying with the team.
Not to mention Carter, Gaborik, and whoever else I can't remember right now.
That is very sad to me. It's yet ANOTHER sad day for the Jackets.
