The Granlund pick does not look that great when you consider some of the players taken after him;Tarasanko,Scwartz and Fowler to name a few.I know a lot of people are still pretty high on him but in my opinion he has not lived up to the expectations.

Fowler is D that went 10 pick below expectation. Obviously we didnt want to pick a D.

Tarasenko is russian. Wild has no russian picks since 2003.

Scwartz has prospect ranking of 29.

Look at the the draft:

http://www2.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=39853

Inconsistent? Crapshoot? There are literally 3 clear busts in top 10.

I don't know about this pick. Looks like we might end up with well positioning smart shutdown C.

I am more hyped on Graovac... At least that kid has the size to play bottom roles.

6'2" isn't big enough for a bottom 6 role? Guess Brodziak, Carter, Vanek, and Nino weren't big enough either. Ek has way higher upside than Graovac. Sounds like a goal scoring Koivu.

I hope you watched the video? The guy uses body like Vanek.

Not hyped, at all. Hopefully becomes a mid 6 player. Being a swede almost guarantees a team player with decent work ethics, so he got that going at least.

Fletcher's "best player" = highest chance of making it to the NHL roster. Zero off ice, work ethic and team spirit problems.

"Hopefully becomes a middle 6 center"? He's safe for being a 3rd line center. Hopefully he becomes a top 6 center is more like it.
Scouting reports:
Scouting Report:A gritty center with good size and likes to get his nose dirty. Uses his big body to protect the puck well and wins corner battles. Drives the net and goes into dirty areas. Tries to be in your face each shift and is a good agitator. Good net presence to screen and provoke rebounds. Has a nose for scoring and seems always in good position. Can play physical and is present in after whistle scrums. His first steps are not the fastest and his skating abilities are improvable. Eriksson Ek is a very competitive center with a good scoring touch and great work ethic. Besides his good shot, he might not have high end scoring assets but is doing all for the win and fits into NHL style hockey.

NHL Potential: Two-Way Forward with good work ethic, who works good in all three zones.

Bill Placzek of Draft Site: "Strong competing centre who plays solid in all zones. A player who at an earlier juncture projected as a low-end roster player who is strong in the dot and very responsible defensively. He is smart and comes to win every night. It isn’t like he is a deft speedster;but he most certainly continues to improve his feet and continue on the uptick as a smart strong-on-the-puck player who reads the situations and knows when to continue carrying and when to find the teammate with a pass. He needs more strength but is strong in traffic and creates space on the attack. He supports well defensively and always instinctively position himself well. He will continue to fill his gangly body out and get even stronger than he already is. There are glimpses of strong offensive instincts that may flourish as he fills out physically. Already creates space and excels in the dot.A long term player who some team will take a chance on."

I certainly hope so, but there is ZERO evidence on any of this on any footage that i could find online. Literally zero body contact whatsoever. Good thing we have professional scouts who go to all the games and we don't have to draft based on youtube...

I still see this kid as 2nd round draft rocket carried by one performance in J18 tournament. Detroit passed him on 19th and they absolutely love the swedes.

Whoops I didn't see the sure-fire, high end. Center we passed on. This pick is terrible then!!

Konecny was on the board and has a higher offensive ceiling.

Not mad, just a bit disappointed, but will go into wait and see mode because I totally trust Fletcher.

That's how I feel, too. Disappointed. Guys with higher upside were still on the board... White, Konecny.

If Eriksson Ek continues to trend upward (like he's done lately), he could be a Filip Forsberg-esque steal.

Konecny might have more talent, but Ottawa passing him twice is a massive issue.

He was 18 for all but 2 weeks of his time in the SHL.
Johan Larsson can't seem to stick in the lineup with Buffalo and it is starting to look like he will be a marginal NHLer at best.

Did you watch Larsson at all last season? When he was put on the scoring line he scored 14pp on his last 20games.
