Färjestad are probably out of the playoffs this Friday, or maybe they can hang on to Sunday. If Sweden decides that they don't want him for the WHC and he doesn't get called in for the Wild, he will get no game time the rest of the spring. Or does the contract allow for him to go to Iowa? I don't know how these contracts work, maybe that's the idea all along?

I think the only limitations he had was once he was loaned to Färjestad he had to stay there for the rest of the season(not sure if that had to do with the CBA or just a handshake agreement with Färjestad).

I would assume once Färjestad's season is over he has the same options as all other signed Wild prospects.

That's entirely speculation though.

Doesn't make sense IMO. I believe playing one more NHL game would burn a year of his ELC contract.

If it can help the team make a deep run this year, isn't it worth it? I don't know what our contract situation looks like for the future though when it comes to the ELC's and whose is ending when.

No, I don't think it's worth it. Also, Eriksson-Ek's not better than anyone we currently have in the bottom-6. Not when it comes to playoff experience anyways; that's a whole different level.

Do the playoff games count for that, though? I remember PK Subban basically starting his career in the post-season, and he played a lot more than 9 games there. Did that burn a year from his ELC? I don't think it did, but I'm not sure. Players don't get paid for the playoffs, only regular season, so it doesn't seem to make sense to me that those games would affect contract status.

Yes, unfortunately playoff games count.

CapFriendly:
What Is An Entry Level Slide?

If a player who is signed to an entry-level contract and is 18 or 19 years of age (as of September 15 of the signing year), does not play in a minimum of 10 NHL games (including both regular season and playoffs; AHL games do not count), their contract is considered to ‘slide’, or extend, by one year. For example, if a player signed an ELC for three seasons from 2015-16 to 2017-2018, and their contract slides, their contract is now effective from 2016-17 to 2018-19. An exception to this rule is that if the player is 19 on September 15 of the first year of their contract, and turns 20 between September 16 and December 31, their contract does not slide.

To be fair, Eriksson Ek has more recent playoff experience than a guy like Hanzal. I think he has been in that playoff mode for awhile now, so either that could really have him playing at a super high level as soon as he got here, or have a regression since hes been at that high level for awhile now with Farjestad.

Either way I am okay with whatever decision is made, I think he would be an improvement but also okay with waiting and not burning that ELC.

with hanzal on the team, I don't think we need JEE. Maybe more depth sure but...so we would burn a year of his contract?

Ek just left the ice holding his neck after a check from behind. Hope he's ok.

Hm. Not sure I like it. Not sure I don't. If he plays and helps win us a cup, I won't mind his UFA clock ticking, but if he plays, and we don't win it...

Guessing Boudreau's fed up with Haula, so Eriksson-Ek will replace him (or White) on the 3rd-4th line.

I don't see the purpose of playing him ~12 minutes a night and burning a year off his ELC clock.

Get White out of the frickin game. Ever since his 3rd game, he has been complete garbage. Roll with stew-JEE-haula as your 4th line. Or demote hanzal to 4th line honestly, JEE is probably faster and has just as good of a shot if not better...
