Jimmy Snuggerud's (STL) First Career NHL Goal

That group from those NTDP / gold medal WJC teams has really transitioned well. Crazy how much talent have come through in the last few years:

Cooley
Hutson
Smith
Casey
Gauthier
Snuggerud
Leonard
Nazar
Moore
McGroarty
Rinzel
Perreault
Buium
Brindley
Howard
Hagens
Eiserman
Nelson
Hutson

Already seven from the 2004-born USNTDP team alone that have made their NHL debut:

Logan Cooley
Cutter Gauthier
Lane Hutson
Frank Nazar
Seamus Casey
Rutger McGroarty
Jimmy Snuggerud

Isaac Howard has a real shot to make NHL next year if his rights get traded and he signs a contract.

I don't know these kids' family histories but I can't help but think they're incredibly Canadian-sounding names. Aside from just the Scottish/Irish influence I mean.

It's funny that he has already outscored his father's last season in the NHL. He could easily have more goals than the old man as early as toward the end of next season.

Initial reaction, not a fan of the last name.

For that reason, I’m out.

Expect to hear that last name a lot. Former first-round pick in 2022, great career at Minnesota, and his offensive ability clearly translates. When he gets stronger on the puck and better on defense, you're going to be hearing his name a ton.

Jimmy Snuggerrud sounds like an Irish Mob boss

You know, I can kinda see it, haha.

Eight people from that team is incredible.

Yeah, that's an insane amount of talent.

Heh. Yeah, his father and grandfather played in the NHL (or at least for the University of Minnesota), if I'm not mistaken.

Everything sounds Canadian or American nowadays. Melting pots and all.
I approve as well! :D

Congrats young man

I'm so glad the Blues have him, and he was a pick I wanted. Future for St. Louis is incredibly bright.

+ Brindley, who wasn't a NTDP guy but played on the U18s

And 4 2005s

Moore
Leonard
Perreault
Smith

+ Buium

Cutter Gauthier and Rutger McGroarty are the two amongst that list that have Canadian fathers that were minor-pro hockey players.

Snuggerud appears to be of Norwegian background. FWIW.

Edit: the surname, I mean, not the actual player.

His father Dave was a Sabre, Shark and Flyer. Don't know about his grandfather.

I'm personally offended by this thread, did you consider that???

As thread maker, have I offended you? I apologize if I have, and I will do a long-winded apology tour like some YouTuber being caught doing horrible things outside of YouTube, even though I have only ever posted Pokemon Nuzlocke videos on YouTube that are since deleted because I lost progress. :P ;)

His father Dave was a Sabre, Shark and Flyer. Don't know about his grandfather.
Maternal grandfather is James Westby. Played for Minnesota and the 1964 Olympic team, according to EliteProspects.

It's not hurting anything. Demidov had a dedicated thread and appeared in that thread (First NHL Goals Wins 2024–25).
Thank you for allowing this thread to remain open, and apologies if I was supposed to put this elsewhere. I just saw the Demidov thread and others like it, and I thought it was okay.

It's fine. It's officially fine. Thanks for starting the thread.

I don't know where we get all of these people around here who don't want to talk about NHL hockey on the NHL board.
