While I’m probably Hynes biggest critic on here, my fantasy is Chicago missed the playoffs or has a first round exit and we hire Quennville next year.

Regardless where the team is you can’t risk handing off to a rookie head coach.

no sustained pressure, Kink was caught cheating a little on that goal but he came up big that period

Don’t care if butcher didn’t clean the puck on the first goalie. Kinkaid committed low super early and left the whole far side open.

Great save on the breakaway to make up for it but man that goal was a bummer

Skate over the Rangers' blue line -> pass the puck into a Ranger's skate -> turn around and leave the zone -> repeat

You don't care when your D makes an insanely soft play that leads to a goal?

Why play defense if we only need a goalie?

He had to stay honest short side with Vecsey breaking in from that angle.

Just hypothetically speaking here, I know it’s too early to consider, but speaking in hypotheticals here.

If we miss the playoffs after the hot start, that will be two straight years that we were in a playoff spot at Thanksgiving and missed in the end. Is it unfair to move on from Hynes and consider that he’s not getting us over this hump of making the playoffs?

Butchers offense has dried up but that's to be expected. Moore, Vatanen, or Severson need to make something happen from the backend

News flash that’s why you have a goalie! You know to make a big save and bail the team out when mistakes happen?

Kinkaid’s save percentage coming into this game is .896 on the season. The other goalie on the team has one that shot 23 points higher.

If you don’t wanna argue what goals were soft and not, that’s fine, but there’s no argument to be had that he’s having a good season. Or that he hasn’t been a problem for at least 2/3rd’s of his starts to date and that’s not counting tonight at all.

Greene is performing as the worst defenseman on this team right now, but I don't think there is anyone outside of maybe Severson that would look better with his assignment. He needs to be played more like a 3rd pairing guy.

Unfortunately I don't foresee hynes going anywhere.

Greene is a mess with the delayed stretch passes. He needs to skate the puck up the ice and alter the angle.

I don’t really blame him. The defense has been meh and the goaltending has left a lot to be desired. Not sure a different coach will fix that. Need different players

Who is talking about his season? Right now we would be done 3 or 4 goals if not for Keith.

Man when you have an axe to grind

The entire team defense looks chaotic. It's not close to being as bad as Dallas Eakins' swarm defense bad, but it's in that vicinity of shit.

How many years in a row do you allow a head coach to miss the playoffs before making a change? Peters in Carolina is the only current head coach who has survived 3 straight playoff misses and is still employed. Even the bad teams fire their coaches after that many playoff misses.

Tippett has been the only other one in recent years to survive that many years and he was basically running the team until the owners said enough of that, during the past offseason.

I thought Gibbons made some good plays in the offensive zone. One of very few bright spots in the period IMO.
