I thought Brossoit played fantastic, and he moves so well, with great athleticism. Brossoit should get the next start, as he's hot right now, and has earned it. If players are playing really good with a great effort, they should be rewarded with more playing time, and not decided by pay scale.

Schiefele played great, and showed some real speed on that breakaway, and no mistake, and it was in the back of the net. He's a lot faster than he looks, especially at full stride.

I'm really hoping PLD gets in the lineup soon, so he can mesh with certain players. If he gets healthy, and we play great teams, we will be awfully tough to beat with our size and skill at center ice. Paul Stastny is no slouch either, and often overlooked, but he plays a staedy and responsible game.

Our defence is starting to take shape, and we're allowing far fewer goals now, and Pionk is stating to look like a first class # 1 center, as his confidence grows. The Rangers must be kicking themselves for letting him go, and thought they were just throwing a bone to the Jets. Big surprise here, and shows how the Jet's scouting does their homework.

I believe this team can beat Toronto or Montreal, especially with PLD in the lineup, and will finish at least in 2nd place.

Hey Jet, when you have a guy that's played that good last game, and going against this same team again, I think you play him. Brossoit is underrated. Doesn't matter if Helle is a vezina winner, he'll get plenty of games in.

As someone who was a big proponent for using Morrissey on PP1, that can end now. I'm tired of him no look shovelling the puck into nowhere and giving up possession anytime he has pressure on him. Know your outs.

He played much better last night but there is far too much panic and indecision in his game right now. He's not handling the puck well and not making quick, confident decisions. You kind of need that.

Pionk has been great on the PP so far this year, really distributing the puck well and making good decisions.

The Jets don't play again after Sunday until Thursday, Helly played on Wednesday so that would be 8 days between starts for Helly. Brossoit played excellent but Helly is number 1 and Brossoit is used to not playing for big stretches.

It doesn't matter that he's a Vezina winner but it does matter that he won't have played for a week before his next start.

Well, I guess now thanks to 55 we all have a better understanding of how much preparation Brossoit puts in every day.
Let’s just hope Scheifele himself remembers the value of “working his bag off” each and every game too.
By the way, this is not intended as a shot at Bambi- I just literally laughed out loud when I heard him characterize Brossoit’s work ethic in terms of “working his bag off” every day.
I blame the cilantro.

It might work better with a bit more rotation when the puck is on the right side with Connor but we’d lose that cross rink to Schiefele one timer in the circle sometimes, but we’d have Schiefele up top. Morrissey gets handcuffed a lot when we end up in that tight overload setup with Connor on the half wall. I don’t really like Connor having to make decisions with the puck...need to get him in positions to shoot or use the jam play.

I’d get Connor in Stastny’s spot and Ehlers in the spot Connor has been mostly in, move Stastny to PP2.

Solid road win by the team. After the first the Jets really managed to tighten things up defensively I bet Maurice was happy with that.

Brossoit played a great game.

Morrissey after the first really locked things down and played real strong assertive defense. Poolman was ok but made a number of issues for himself in his own end.

Pionk and Forbwrt with another real strong effort.

Third pairing was steady.

CSW really didn't accomplish much tonight. Wheeler had a solid night as did Mark but Conner was off.

Ehelers/Copp/Stastny had a solid night and made some things happen in the offensive end.

Lowry line had another very Lowry line type game.

Fourth line was ok but didn't play much.

You no doubt are aware that Yorick's skull is a depiction, to Hamlet, of the transience of joy and meaninglessness of life.

It would be a perfect symbol to bring out in the PGT after a loss.

I love this place. <3 what a vast and beautiful and eclectic mix of posts we have here. From drinking the raging tears of Canucks fans, to reminiscing about Anthony Bitetto, to an important commentary on Hamlet, all within 60 seconds. Where else is anyone gonna get that kind of spread?

Quick thoughts...

81-55-26 Some shaky play in their own zone at times, but overall I thought they were better than they've been recently. Wheeler definitely has more jump now. They had a number of plays that almost connected that would have made them even more dangerous.

9-25-27 Much stronger game from Copp had this line really working well. Staetny with tremendous positional play and smart puck movement. Ehlers was really good in zone exits.

85-17-22 Good game from Lowry, and Appleton was terrific again. His speed and aggressiveness really creates space and allows Lowry to cut off plays. Perreault was okay. Too bad he can't shoot, because he had great chances on the PP.

12-11-23 Harkins and Lewis were strong. Thompson was meh. Noticed him losing a big own zone face-off because that's supposed to be his specialty.

24-4 Wow, that was a boss game from Pionk. He's at another level right now. Forbort was fine. Not sure what Highlander did to tick him off, but he sent a message or two.

44-3 Poolman was a mess. He was so shaky with the puck that he puts the D pair into a lot of bad situations. I liked Morrissey overall, though he made a couple of bad turnovers.

88-2 DeMelo was okay I guess, but doesn't look like the same player as he was last year. Beaulieu is just had.

Brossoit was outstanding.

Good win. Jets will have a formidable forward group when PLD gets up to speed. But they need to replace one or two D. Samberg is ready right now to step into RD next to Morrissey. Heinola would be a welcome puck mover.

Samberg can't be recalled soon enough to take Poolman's spot. I think Morrissey has started get his grove back but it's hard to play with a partner that you don't really know what they are going to do.
