That felt like one of those pleasantly surprising and extremely satisfying wins tonight.
Tonight showed they are capable of playing a complete game for the full 60 and maintaining a mostly decent compete level throughout.
To my eye, anyway. I’m admittedly weak in terms of analytics so I pretty much just rely on my own idiosyncratic take on what I’m seeing.
Go Jets Go!

Quick thoughts...

81-55-26 Some shaky play in their own zone at times, but overall I thought they were better than they've been recently. Wheeler definitely has more jump now. They had a number of plays that almost connected that would have made them even more dangerous.

9-25-27 Much stronger game from Copp had this line really working well. Staetny with tremendous positional play and smart puck movement. Ehlers was really good in zone exits.

85-17-22 Good game from Lowry, and Appleton was terrific again. His speed and aggressiveness really creates space and allows Lowry to cut off plays. Perreault was okay. Too bad he can't shoot, because he had great chances on the PP.

12-11-23 Harkins and Lewis were strong. Thompson was meh. Noticed him losing a big own zone face-off because that's supposed to be his specialty.

24-4 Wow, that was a boss game from Pionk. He's at another level right now. Forbort was fine. Not sure what Highlander did to tick him off, but he sent a message or two.

44-3 Poolman was a mess. He was so shaky with the puck that he puts the D pair into a lot of bad situations. I liked Morrissey overall, though he made a couple of bad turnovers.

88-2 DeMelo was okay I guess, but doesn't look like the same player as he was last year. Beaulieu is just had.

Brossoit was outstanding.

Good win. Jets will have a formidable forward group when PLD gets up to speed. But they need to replace one or two D. Samberg is ready right now to step into RD next to Morrissey. Heinola would be a welcome puck mover.
Great breakdown although Ehlers did make some head scratchers in their end.

Excellent game all around! Nice to see the Jets keeping the Canucks to the outside for most of their offensive play. Makes it a lot easier on the goaltender. Brossoit looked comfortable the whole game.

We got guys on this team that can more than take care of business if the Canucks want to go that way
I just dont want it getting them off the gameplan and falling into the gong show that i know guys like Roussell can bring to the table. We’ll see Sunday!

Morrisey not on in the last seconds. Maybe Maurice is realizing some things
But wow how good was Pionk on that shift leading to the empty net goal?!

Controls it in our end with speed and skill and makes great play to get it out and up to another hard working guy, Apples for the clinching empty netter. Loved it.

Wasn't a Pionk fan when he arrived but he's for sure our best and still keeps elevating his game.

Happy too for LB getting shutout. No drop in goaltending most nights when he gets a start.

The recovery of Wheeler is almost complete. His game was good. But I still preferred when CSW was broken up. Ehlers+Connors with Statsny is much more effective.

And if 6'4" Forbort wants to keep picking on the 5'9" Hoglander kid then there should be an uptick in the truculence next game. Should be fun.

Great effort all around by almost all of the Jets.
Both goalies were excellent.
There is hope for this defense but I thought Forbert was absolutely terrible tonight.
Pionk with a beast of a game and that trade is looking better and better all the time.
Fun game to watch.

I still tingle with anticipation at how good this team could be if we make a bold deadline move for a top pairing guy, even a known rental. Vezina goalie, elite forwards, I mean.. you tell me what department benefits from a shot in the arse?

Elite forwards? I wonder how many of our forwards can actually score?

Ehlers, Schiefele, Wheeler, Dubois, Connor? And to a lesser tier, Appleton and Perreault? We are WELL above average league-wide in forward talent, let's not fool ourselves otherwise.
Does Wheeler have 5 goals this season?
Edit: he has 5
Stastny has 3.
