Jets Upcoming Free Agents

The Blues at the TDL were outside the PO's so not surprised they were seeing what the value of their players were.

Yes, exactly.

Armstrong has been no stranger from either stepping in or stepping out of the TDL push. I think he just put a silly price on Schenn and if somebody bites, they bite, if not, they keep moving along business as usual.

And yet when asked about Connor Vilardi Samberg Lowry contracts he said the money part will take care of itself. So it sounds like they want to be with the Jets and Ehlers doesn’t.
This is a fair guess. Out of all of the top players that need to be re-signed over the next season I'd put Ehlers at the lowest likelihood.

Marty Biron on tsn just said how he thinks Chevy would offer 6x7m.. seems a bit off to me..

Edit: for Ehlers
Ya, I think Ehlers could get more if he goes to market. I'm sure some team will give him $8+M on a long-term deal. Though Chevy always seems to pull a rabbit out of his hat when it comes to the Jets FA, signing many of them to long term deals that seem to make fiscal sense. Maybe that happens again.

Some thought Nik would extend during the regular season, that has come and gone and he high tailed it to the World's. I think Nik has one foot out the door and unless Chevy was to severely over pay the second foot will join him on July 1st.

I thought Sandberg skirted around the issue of signing here but some of these guys are real good at playing their cards close to their vests.

Personally I'm not too sure about that, but let’s say that's true. What's the plan then, let Ehlers walk in free agency and hope you can grab one of these two guys? That's quite a gamble when you're likely looking at no Ehlers and neither of those options panning out.
I’m not suggesting we get those guys, just answering the other guys question - would we be better off with one of these guys. Both are likely an upgrade over Names at 2C

I want Nik here if the cost is reasonable.

His wife just opened a medical practice in the city. I’m guessing he is planning on staying.
Ladd’s wife did too and they chose to leave.

Not saying Samberg will leave. But we have at least one example where a wife owning a medical practice didn’t mean as much as we thought it would.

Ladd's wife didn't own a medical practice. She was an US-trained optometrist, who was having her family during those years and wasn't invested in her own business. She may or may not have practiced part-time-I can't recall if she got her Cdn licence.
Samberg's wife is a dentist, they have no kids yet and she just opened up a new dental office, which it appears she co-owns. That is a huge investment in time, money and community, so it's very likely they stay here for the longer term.
I can see Samberg signing deal of long duration, with trade protection in exchange for a more team-friendly AAV.
Win-win!

I agree. She pretty much made a significant professional commitment to the community. While that doesn't guarantee that they stay, it should show that both are very open to staying long term and are setting their careers up as if they intend to stay.

Clearly that can all change quickly in the hockey community but I'd peg it as likely that Snerg is inked to a long term extension this summer.

Don't really see a universe in Jets land where Samberg-Pionk aren't tied at the hip long term for this team.

I expect it all to get done this summer, as well. No reason to believe otherwise.

Goes with out saying, but any offer sheet the Jets are matching, too, of course, so that's not an issue either.
