Prospect Info: Jets Prospects

Not sure about it being a pity party, but doing something kind for a player like this is the type of thing that can earn you a stellar relationship as a professional organization that players want to play for.

What would make the players that we want to play here …. Want to play here.

Is to run a professional organization that’s strives for excellence and promotes a winning atmosphere.

Professional athletes like to win.

Going into the playoffs we don’t need distractions.

Go hug a tree 🌳 on your own time !

It’s the playoffs …. We got to roll up our sleeves and get to work and stay focused.

It seemed like Barlow needed a jolt of motivation this season. Four years in the OHL is a long time, and he's been a top goal scorer for the past 3 years. It's not that uncommon for older prospects to have a bit of a dip in their production in the 4th years in juniors. Even Morrissey had a substantial dip in his final junior regular season but picked it up in the playoffs.
Definitely exciting to see as I've been probably too critical of Barlow. Very encouraging signs this playoffs for him!

Respecting people and treating them well is never wasted effort.

I would just say, It would be more beneficial to give that game to a player who has worked hard all year, either on the moose or in juniors, to get that game. A player that truly has a potential future with the Jets - to get that game, and taste of the action and their potential future.

If that game went to Chaz, how would someone like Salomonsson feel.....that should have been me? I certainly see the double edged sword that playing Chaz in "sympathy" could have created.

All moot now. The last game has been played, and no new faces at all were inserted for the game.

Also it sounds like he probably wouldn't have been medically cleared to play anyhow.

Who knows, you might be right, but Salomonsson is going to have a lot of years to get his games in. Lucius won't, which is kind of the point.

Nobody is suggesting playing him in a PO game. That game they threw away last Sunday would have been the time.

What makes a player want to play here? Exactly what you said ... and treating players like human beings, not just chattel. The 2 are not mutually exclusive .

There's all kinds of things the Jets can do now. Pay for the kid's college degree. Give him a job if he wants to stay in hockey, outside the rink, down the road.

All the pressure the kid had to perform, and his body couldn't hold up. Must have been really hard mentally to keep pushing. That's why you have guys like Mike Keane here, relationships with players built with former players.

Who’s treating anybody like Chattel?

Treating a person with respect / understanding their medical condition / shaking their hand wishing them the best of luck in their future endeavours. Treating him like the professional that he is and not placating him with with a gift position on a NHL roster. This is professional hockey it’s not miracle wish day at the hospital.

Your suggestion of we should have played him against Edmonton last Sunday is a garbage idea. He had allready retired and made known he retired for medical reasons.

If he would have played after that announcement / what happens at the game ….. maybe standing ovation …. By the crowd.

How do you spell “major distraction” when you still have to nail down the Presidents trophy.

If you were going to gift him 1 regular season NHL game you do not make a public retirement announcement detailing the nature of his illness before the game.

Once the announcement was made public there was never going to be any Rudy last game heroic exit / l ❤️ Eat prey love hippie love ❤️moment in time at MTS centre

All kinda things the Jets can do!

Give him a job for life.

Pay to Finnish his college in the States ..

Ok 👌….

- Let’s take him to Disneyland on make a wish program.
- Let’s write a book about his life and the troubles he’s overcome ….then Reece Witherspoon can get the movie 🍿 rights and make an ABC after school documentary about it.

Take him to Vegas and get him a girl for the night. ( might cheer him up…

Or maybe Treat him like a professional acknowledge He obviously has a strong character for getting this far In life acknowledging he will be successful in whatever he chooses to do in his next stage in his future.

It blows my mind that you've argued for pages on giving someone a nice send off (that didn't even happen) for an absolute nothing game. Go drink some water from a polluted stream.

Agreed on getting back to prospect talk, but aint no way you're calling out this guy for sensitive feelings after the multi-page tirade you've been on about doing something nice for Lucius lmfao

I have no problem doing something nice for people

Gold watch retirement party / / appreciation plaque / nice words /.
Group hug 🤗/ tearful good bye.

But you have some people going off the deep end saying the Jets should give this 21 year old kid a job for life / non hockey …. Something that he is no qualifications for.

Others saying the Jets should throw him 1 meaningless NHL game at the end of the season.

The Jets are 1st first class organization that keeps everything private and close to the vest.

As soon as they went public with Lucius medical condition and retirement there was 0 % chance they would do that as a farewell dance .

If that was even a remote possibility they would have done it quietly and anounced his retirement after the season.

I just wish people would use their brains and common sense and think 🤔 things through practically and stop non - thinking with their feelings hopes and dreams.

I have no ill wishes towards Lucius , wish him all the best.

He’s 21 -22 years old he has his whole life ahead of him and just like 99.99% iof every other 21-22 year old it won’t be in the NHL.

There is also the question of his health. What if he gets really hurt again in that game due to his condition. My guess is even if they wanted to do so the Dr and insurance companies say no.

The org can do a lot to keep involved with the game of hockey in some capacity if that is what he wants. Many former players scout, the Jets could give him a US regional scouting position or if he wants to focus on more charity work due to his condition they can have him involved in the TNYF.

I didn't suggest playing him in that game - but having to nail down the PT was clearly not affecting the Jets lineup or play in that game. They COULD have given him that game.

I've been staying out of this debate because I didn't really see any need for that gesture. We don't even know if he would have been physically able. But your reaction to the suggestion has been way over the top. It could have been done with no harm to the Jets.
