Prospect Info: Jets Prospects

I have no idea why people are underrating Salomonsson. We have a RHD with offensive talent who does well defensively, with size and skating to boot, just improving year over year, and he's largely being ignored by non-Jets people.

It's weird. He was a relatively big name pre-draft, who dropped in the draft with a somewhat underwhelming draft year. Like Lambert. But freaking EVERYONE talks about Lambert all the time.

Everyone has to be Cale Makar or they suck

He's easily been the best player on the Moose this year. But it seems these types get underrated because they aren't monster point producers. As Snerg has shown you don't need to score 50 points to be impact top 4 dmen in this league. Salomonsson is ahead of Snerg at the same age and if he turns out as good we are laughing all the way to the bank.

Also the comments told me all I needed to know that they really weren't paying much attention. They slag Yager for the WJC but fail to note that he was used in a checking line role that tournament and not an offensive role. No shit his point totals weren't as high as it wasn't his role until later in the tournament.

The Barlow comments strike me as if they haven't seen him play at all.

That was the COVID year, made grading these kids next too impossible. Johnston didn't play a single game that year.
Except Chevy and the scouts gambled on a kid who had injury concerns already. It was a reason he fell in the draft. It turned out to be a bad decision.

2021 is turning out to be yet another bad draft by Chevy and the scouts. The only person who will salvage it to becoming merely OK is Chibrikov who might be a 3rd line/middle-6 player.

They only had 4 picks so not really sure if it was ever going to be good draft. Getting one NHL player out of 4 picks would be solid.

I guess we shouldn't have gambled on Volare either?
Don't sleep on Rashevsky.

Anyone watched the last half dozen or so Moose games and can give their thoughts on Wagner? Extreme short sample size, but how is he looking besides the goals? What's his game like?

I don't think anyone would expect him to continue this pace, but if he can have a solid season next year, does he start to put his name into a conversation at some point?

I've seen most games. He's an intelligent player with good positioning. He plays a sound defensive game and is pretty opportunistic offensively.

I think he's definitely someone that you could project to a bottom 6 role if he keeps developing.

Good to know about his defensive game, that's definitley something I was wondering about. As in, can he fill in a bottom 6 role at some point in the future, can he fill a role on the PK, etc.

What about his speed? I imagine he's not overly physical, so I'm kind of wondering what he would be asked to bring to the table. Like an Appleton type, use speed on the forecheck, cycle game, etc?

It's intriguing for a guy like him to have this kind of success at this stage, even with the small sample size. It will be interesting to see how he does next year.

He's not a burner but he's not slow either. He's probably projects as an average skater at the NHL level. He doesn't shy away from the tough areas of the ice and has some tenacity in his game. I'd say Copp is a decent stylistic comparable for him.

I’d be interested to see where his point totals end up for this season, and how he fares in the summer’s prospect polls. We’ll see.
