In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord ServerWatched Yager in Brandon a couple of weeks ago. The kid is light years ahead of his peers on the defensive side of the puck. Great reads, always on the right side of the puck, etc. I left wondering whether he will score goals at the NHL level. He'll be a decent playmaker, but will he score goals. If he was pushing 40 goals this year, I'd say not worries, but he'll be lucky to get 30. He really wasn't a threat to score that game and muffed a few of his opportunities.Yager just keeps plugging along, another 2 assists last night. He's essentially pacing the same points per game on auch lowering scoring team in Lethbridge that he was on the offensive powerhouse that was Moose Jaw last year.
I am not. Both are having better than expected seasons. There’s still room for growth and development with both as is the case with all prospects. I take the positives they’ve shown and continue to build on that going forward. Are we concerned that Walton and He have cooled down a lot?
True, and He especially has game that's very suited for the pro leagues in his ability to forecheck, win puck battle, drive possession, etc.I am not. Both are having better than expected seasons. Now Barzal wasn't a prolific goal scorer in jr hockey either, so he might be ok, but it's the one thing I'm hesitant about. That, and is weight. Will need to fill out a bit. But his play with and without the puck is elite at the jr hockey level.
He definitely didn't show an elite shot that night, though maybe he's battling an injury or something that could hinder his shooting.Yager's shot/release is elite. I don't think he'll have problems scoring in the NHL
I note on eliteprospects that he is not signed for next season in the KHL. Hopefully he’s thinking about coming over here.
I think he makes the team before next season's playoffs. Not much need for him on the Jets and he’s not leaving the KHL for the Moose so I imagine he will stay in Russia.

I remember him saying he wanted to be a player that was ready for the NHL when he came over. I could very easily be wrong.I would lay my fake Monopoly money on the option where he isn’t part of the Jets future but who knows.

Don't be surprised if he doesn't score a ton with the Moose at the start of next year. I'm not suggesting a Lambert type season with 4 goals, but if folks are looking for KC type goal numbers with the Moose, that might be a bit away. It will take some development, but the kid works hard and i'm sure he'll work on whatever he needs to to succeed at the next level.
I think we see the player that he was at the WJC, at least he looked like that player against the Wheat Kings. Smart playmaker and very defensively sound. He scored 35 last year and 34 his draft -1 year. His shot is elite but he doesn't use it enough as he's more a playmaker then a shooter.
This year he needed to focus on driving offense for his line/team and I think he's done that very well.
I don't expect an elite goal scorer at the NHL level. I expect Little type goal and offensive numbers with the defensive game to boot.

jets were trying to bring him over this past off season and pretty sure he signed his past 2 contracts during the season in around november so the fact that he still isn't signed makes me believe he will actually come over,I note on eliteprospects that he is not signed for next season in the KHL. The Jets will need to put him in an offensive role and ask him to produce offence and goals. In particular, goals from him. It may take a year or 2 on the Moose to get that mindset.
You could be right. Just not sure he has moved the needle enough development wise to crack a pretty stacked Jets Roster but we’ll see.
