Prospect Info: Jets Prospects

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Yager just keeps plugging along, another 2 assists last night. He's essentially pacing the same points per game on auch lowering scoring team in Lethbridge that he was on the offensive powerhouse that was Moose Jaw last year.
Watched Yager in Brandon a couple of weeks ago. The kid is light years ahead of his peers on the defensive side of the puck. Great reads, always on the right side of the puck, etc. I left wondering whether he will score goals at the NHL level. He'll be a decent playmaker, but will he score goals. If he was pushing 40 goals this year, I'd say not worries, but he'll be lucky to get 30. He really wasn't a threat to score that game and muffed a few of his opportunities.

Now Barzal wasn't a prolific goal scorer in jr hockey either, so he might be ok, but it's the one thing I'm hesitant about. That, and is weight. Will need to fill out a bit. But his play with and without the puck is elite at the jr hockey level.

I think with elite hockey sense, he will eventually find a way to put himself in good scoring positions.

He’s not unlike Perfetti in that way. It will take a bit of development.

I am not. Both are having better than expected seasons. There’s still room for growth and development with both as is the case with all prospects. I take the positives they’ve shown and continue to build on that going forward.
True, and He especially has game that's very suited for the pro leagues in his ability to forecheck, win puck battle, drive possession, etc.

Yager's shot/release is elite. I don't think he'll have problems scoring in the NHL

He definitely didn't show an elite shot that night, though maybe he's battling an injury or something that could hinder his shooting.

Don't be surprised if he doesn't score a ton with the Moose at the start of next year. I'm not suggesting a Lambert type season with 4 goals, but if folks are looking for KC type goal numbers with the Moose, that might be a bit away. It will take some development, but the kid works hard and i'm sure he'll work on whatever he needs to to succeed at the next level.

I note on eliteprospects that he is not signed for next season in the KHL. Hopefully he’s thinking about coming over here.

Not much need for him on the Jets and he’s not leaving the KHL for the Moose so I imagine he will stay in Russia.
