Nehring is red hot in his last 7 games. 6 goals and 5 assists.
I'm really rooting for him to make it eventually, would be an awesome story and I loved all his post draft videos.

Could be a really great character 4th line guy with size if all goes right. Probably will need some time to marinate with the moose.

The Hockey News Future Watch edition has the Jets’ top 10 prospects ranked as follows:

1 - Yager
2 - Lambert
3 - Chibrikov
4 - Barlow
5 - Salomonsson
6 - Freij
7 - Lucius
8 - He
9 - Walton
10 - Julien

I’d have Salomonsson higher. DDV would be in my top 10. I would not have Lucius in the top 10. I’d have Nehring ahead of Julien. This also shows how few prospects the Jets have on D.

I would definitely put Salomonsson higher... probably 1st or 2nd.

Not sure Lucius can really stay in a top 10 considering his injury / illness history.

I think Nehring might be in that top 10. He's had a strong season in the NCAA.

Salomonsson is easily a 1B for me with Yager a 1A.

Lambert/Chibrikov/Barlow are all a tier below.

I think I agree with Yager at #1.

Salomonsson should be #2.

Chibrikov #3.

I think it's over for Lucius.

Walton move up a few spaces? That heater he was on was pretty dope..
Walton's D+1 season NHLe of 0.210 puts him slightly ahead of McGroarty's 0.205, and a bit behind Yager's 0.235. It currently ranks as the 10th best D+1 of Jets draft picks (out of 41 I'm tracking, going back to 2011). Not bad for for a 6th rounder!

Kevin He is 13th with a D+1 NHLe of 0.177 - behind Gustafsson and McGroarty and just ahead of Rashevsky, Lambert and Barlow.

Loponen is 30th with a D+1 of 0.093. Not great for a forward.

Freij is 32nd with 0.089, but he's a defenseman and the NHLe and young player usage in Europe makes things a bit weird. Between Freij and Loponen is Samberg's D+1, so I wouldn't worry much about Freij just yet.

Freij reminds me of a young Morrissey. Just a feeling, but that's where I'm at.

I don't know anywhere near enough on him. I hope he's in the SHL next year or over here on the Moose if he's ready.

He is playing in a men's league this year. Not the top one but still pretty good. I hope he will be with the Moose next year.

I have high hopes for him based on the reports we have had.

He's been injured for a long time.

Ruh Roh
I hope it is not too serious.

Just looking at Walton's numbers...

His peak for point production was after the game on January 8, when he hit 1.78 points/game. He's fallen off that pace a bit to 1.47. His rolling 10 game points/game average is currently 1.48 (peak was 1.74).

He's had points in 46 out of 60 games. He had a 19 game point streak where he put up 46 points (16g, 29a). That's a 2.42 points/game pace.

He doesn't take a ton of faceoffs. Only 55 attempts. But he's 55% on the draw FWIW.

Here's his 10 game rolling average for points/game:

Yeah Walton has definitely cooled down but still a great, great season out of him if he had been our first round pick. Slowing down to below a point per game in his last 20 or so shows he still has lots of room to grow in the OHL with the increased focus on him, the long season and improving physicality.

Obviously Lambert and Chibrikov are knocking on the door next year. Where Walton is more likely breaking in 3-5 years from now.

I can't shake the feeling that he is likely the most impactful player of our group 5-6 years from now. But things can change quickly with prospects.

Walton was really carrying the offense for his team but has been put into a lesser role with the return / addition of some top players. He might also be hitting a bit of a wall in terms of stamina etc. A lot of junior players need to build a stronger base of fitness to stay at peak form through the full season. I expect he can be the go-to player on his OHL team next season. A really strong summer of training would go a long way.

I think Lambert probably needs to now develop further at the NHL level, hopefully after a strong summer of building strength and stamina. He's sort of in the same situation as Perfetti who took some time to translate his skills to the NHL by learning how to lay and building his strength for battles. That's the next level for Lambert.

Chibrikov is more ready, but will need to play in the right line at the NHL level. I think he will be effective, but I doubt his ceiling is more than a middle 6 winger with a bit of offense.

Still clicking along at a shade under 1.5 points/game over his last 10. That's solid OHL production for a D+1 prospect.

I can’t think of a good reason not to have Salomsson as #1 and I don’t think it’s really close. He has a better scoring rate than Lambert and defense is what most scouts talk about as his best skill.

It’s great to see Yager doing well in Junior but what Salomonsson has accomplished in the AHL to me is more impressive.

Yeah I'm probably just outweighing future potential with Yager because he's still young and there's just more possible. I'm fine with Salomonsson as #1 - I don't think he'd be out of place in the NHL right now.
