At this point I'd like to remind everyone that Chevy traded up to select He at pick # 109, using pick #123 and #219 to do so. It looks very probable that Chevy saw a player available that the organization had higher on their draft board.
Chevy traded up for Brennan Serville (2 x 4ths for a 3rd) and Zach Yuen (5th + 7th for a 4th) in 2011. Then of course, Stanley (22nd and 36th overall for 18th and 79th overall) in 2016. So He's only the 4th player the Jets have traded up for...a pretty rare event.

Does that mean they won’t be trading him to a contender? Why name him Captain if the plan is to move him in 3 or 4 months

Barlow was a Captain as well, but Owen Sound is likely a worse team looking to rebuild.

Hopefully Yager’s season doesn’t tank on a weakened team.
I don't think you need to read too much into it. Yager is their best player and a one of the team leaders, so not naming him captain probably starts the season off with controversy and starts a trade watch. Better to just normalize things and let the season play out and hopefully he has a big WJC and if the Warriors fall out of contention he gets traded and thanked for his dedication and years of service with many well wishes on playoff success.

Good Recap 👍 !!!!

I was well aware of these instances ….and I hope it turns out this time as the other 3 were bust moves in my opinion.

Interesting that 50 % or 2/4 times that the Jets have moved up in the draft in 14 years …. They chose an Asian Canadian player…

Yager, He and Walton off to strong starts in the CHL.

Really hope Barlow finds and develops his game in Oshawa.

I still think Lucius has NHL potential if he stays healthy.
You add Julien and Levis to the mix and that's the most CHL prospects I think the Jets have ever had coming up the ranks. Maybe a change in direction from management.

For Lucius I wonder how he starts this season. Last year Moose started with 3 rooks: Lambo, Lucius and Zhilkin at C, and didn't go well. Try again a year older? With Yager looking like a C, and the vets Toninato and Shaw in town, I wonder if Lucius doesn't move to the wing. Creates some opportunities for him to move up the lineup. When he was with the Jets in TC I noticed he was slotting in on the wing.

Moose could have an interesting PP to start the year with Lambert, Chibrikov, Lucius and Kuzmin. Probably worth the price of admission.

Most in the past few years, first 5 or so years the Jets were super heavy in CHL prospects. Had at least 11 at one point, drafted 15 in their first 3 drafts.
