3rd in the league in GAA, that's a clear sign of the coaching change.
Jets are 7th in the league in points % at .682. Works out to 112 point pace.
Counting games in hand the Jets now sit 4th OA in the entire NHL, not counting games in hand Jets are still 5th OA in the entire NHL. Pretty impressive so far
I am also, frankly, quite enjoying the fact that the Jets are getting pretty much zero respect. Yes, they were rated highly on a power rankings, but you still hear nothing about them, no articles or anything on the major sites like TSN. I prefer it for us to be underdogs and have a bit of a chip on our shoulders over no response. I remember 2017/18 was like this too until about February (which coincidentally is when the negative posters say we need to wait til until we're allowed to be happy about the Jets record/play).
Checking in... the Jets got through the mid-October gauntlet, had a somewhat unexpected dreadful road trip, but then came back and put together three strong performances in a row: two against teams they should, and one against a surprisingly strong DAL team (albeit they're missing their own #1 goaltender). A record of 8-3-1, with somewhat subpar underlying metrics (but rising) on the back of outstanding goaltending, and optimism is building in both the fanbase and the locker room. Scheifele is 100% bought-in, and Ehlers should be back soon. The Bowness vibes are real.I think my pessimism and low expectations have been well-stated across here and other places across the internet, so let me post something to the contrary: in the opening 4 weeks of the season, if the Jets manage to win 7+ of their 11 games - even if it's with subpar underlying metrics and on the back of outstanding shooting and goaltending or whatever - it'll go a long way in building some confidence and belief in Bowness and his coaching staff, and "the vibes of the locker room", that will erase all the bad juju that they ended last season with and has carried into the offseason. Getting the Jets best players to buy-in early is likely to go a long, long way.
Now, of course, there's a real tough 5-game gauntlet near the beginning of the season that starts in COL and ends vs TOR and STL at home, but if they can hold through that, then November is an easier month with a lot of rest in-between games that gives the coaching staff time to make tweaks to get them from "just managing to win" to "building good habits that will win games more often than not".
For some players, it'll be their last hurrah. For others, it'll be their first opportunity to prove what they can do contrary to what the previous staff tried to peg them as. Finally, particularly vocal players on the team will be speaking the truth when they say "everyone and the media doubted us". Hopefully they put it all together and give fans something optimistic to cheer for.
How i look watching the Jets this season.
Yes that's after the game.
Can you imagine if the Jets managed to win a couple of cups in a row? Tsn and snet might just disbandI am also, frankly, quite enjoying the fact that the Jets are getting pretty much zero respect. You already do! His name is Big Sak!!!All the best for the Jets! Greetings from Finland. Looking forward to Jets having the next Finn to follow after Numminen, Selänne, Laine...
I am not intending to discount 37s incredible play this season, but what has to be considered is how much better the Jets are defending this year. REAL high danger chances (not ones that some nerd who's never played decides is one) such as seam breakers, unexpected chances from turnovers, and bonus chances due to clearing failures are down significantly.Hellebuyck is having the most blistering start to a season one could have with a .938 save % so there are going to be allot of positive downstream team effects like low GAA and Winz. Further good news is this is happening while Connor is fighting a goal scoring slump, Ehlers has been absent, and Bones missed most of the early games.
Having a player like Mark Scheifele with full buy in is critical. I don’t think you can go very far when your best skater is not aligned. Right now at this snapshot in time the team feels like that is beginning to believe. That is a good thing.
Its a long season but this is a great start and that can be critical in making the playoffs.
STOP THE COUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Helle is getting far more help for the 5 guys on the ice with him and that's a factor.
Of course, you can't deny his confidence level is stratospheric, and he's so well positioned and quiet.
Of course, that's just the perspective of this assholes old eyes
