^ and our Rocket Richard candidate with only 1 goal in 8.
Assume that is KC -
He's drawing a lot of attention this season - not much space out there for him.
But probably opening up time / space for linemates - Scheif comes to mind.

He'll break out soon - but he will find it tougher as he continues to improve - he's no secret at this point and teams are dialing in on him.

Why is it every time a player is on a cold streak we have to come up with excuses. He’s on a scoring slump that happens. Connor said it himself he doesn’t think players are playing him any different. Just because he had 47 goals last year doesn’t mean he’s going to repeat it exclusively. Kyle Connor has been getting chances and there’s been a room at there he just is lacking finish right now. Let’s not overthink this I’m sure he’ll snap out of it. It’s a good thing 55 doesn’t only have one goal because people would be tearing him apart right now.

I don't see as much time or space for him out there this year - it's impacting his scoring IMO -
That's part of the game as players get better - they draw more attention.
He's getting his changes but he has less time to execute - which impacts finish.

Not an excuse - just an observation,

As I noted, I have no doubt he will come out of this

So, after 9 games, Jets are 5-3-1; that's not even "fake .500" that's legit more than .500 and after a pretty tough schedule to start playing top teams in the league including the defending Cup champs, Rangers, Blues, Vegas x2. If we get just one point versus the Habs on Thursday we've racked up 6 in 5 over the first 1/8th of the season.

I don't care how we did it, the key is we got those points which could be massive down the line. I don't think we could have realistically hoped for much better given the strength of the schedule, new systems being learned, and Ehlers out for almost all of it.

I'm not planning a Cup parade but this is a solid start, something to build off of, and I've enjoyed it so far.

Positives so far for me:

The record. Can't complain with the points we have so far given how tough the schedule was. Now with more manageable opponents for the next while hopefully we can gain some traction with our schemes.

Perfetti playing like a legit top 6 all around offensive forward. I expect he'll only get better as the year progresses and he gets more experience.

Offense from our defense to date has been good with JoMo and Pionk leading the way

Bottom 6 is playing well and young players in Barron and Gus looking like they belong and will be NHL players.

Scheifele, Helle, and Lowry all with a major rebound in performance so far.

Team looks good when it's on and plays good hockey.

I've noticed it too but what I'm not seeing is the blazing speed he was using even in preseason to back people off and give him space.

Maybe he has a tweak or something?

Maybe -
IDK, maybe we just need to be patient - he's getting his looks so maybe we/re over thinking it.
I'd certainly like to see a couple go in - I don't want this getting into his head.

the biggest positive is that vezinabuyck is back!!! we got 11 points in our first 9 games while missing ehlers for 7 games our coach for 8 games our best goal scorer shooting ZERO% on goalies and having jmo be our leading point getter...
-fix zone exits seems like majority of our problems start with a failed zone exit
-get ehlers back(should help with above)
-add a top 6 winger

That part is key for me. Certainly he has made some mistakes and has more to learn but he sure looks like a legitimate NHL player to me.

Helle has definitely been out of this world.

I don't like the process all that much so far but hoping this next quieter stretch with Bowness (and Ehlers!) back can help them iron out some of their big issues.

We desperately need some more play drivers in the top 6, IE guys who can help transition and make passes.

Exactly. I know we've been getting outshot some games, however I temper such facts with what Bones said at the beginning of the season: that it's going to take time to learn the new systems and break those bad habits, and he's right. I think the short-term pain is worth the long-term gain though. We'll get there.

The defence needs some time to take hold, and our forwards are still learning what we want from them backchecking and shift-wise. All of this is affecting our timing, and it isn't quite there yet. All we need is for Helly to steal a few games to keep us around .500 while we learn, and good lord has he come ready to play this season! I think you'll see defensive play steadily stabilize as the season goes on, which will then give our offence more of a license to do their thing.

What I've been loving is that when we are all doing what we're supposed to be doing we look electric, and are a f*****g handful for other teams - I don't think there is a team in the league that we can't beat. Just night and day from last year. You can see flashes on occasion of the potential of the team, and damn if I'm not excited for our future!

I know The Baron tends to be one of the more pessimistic creatures on here but I like some aspects for sure.

We are at least in the thick of it in the Central. Lots of under achieving teams early on.

Helleboi has been unreal. Great to see he got over his fatherhood lull last year!

3rd and 4th lines have been fantastic, a big improvement over a few previous years.

Fefe with key goals at key times.

Onwards and upwards is the word!

I'm in a new stage of life, not living at home anymore and we don't have cable so unless I make the effort to seek out a Jets game stream, I forget and thus far have watched about five minutes of a period last Friday night. That said, I am still keeping up with what's going on in the team and hopefully I'll remember to watch a game or two eventually.

That said, hearing what Bones said about the team the other day was encouraging. Not letting them skate by on a bad effort and managing to get a win. That gives me hope for the future of the team under his leadership (hope he gets well soon).

Also, Hellebuyck being Hellebuyck. How lucky we are to get to have drafted a goalie his caliber and to have had him for so long.

Haven’t been able to watch hockey this season yet but very happy one of my only predictions is off to a good start. I was loud and proud predicting Helle would bounce back to Vezina form because there would be no Covid interrupted summer, and no first baby challenges.

We have some really talented stars but we only have one true super star. Glad Helle is off to a great start.

While very happy with the results through the first 10 of the season, my insatiable side just reminded me we had a better record last season through the first 10, by a point.

I just remember how we were playing, all of the challenges we've faced this year, and the improvements in our team play and I feel better.

Last season I think we were saying how lucky we were to be in that position. I'd say this year we might have 1 or 2 points more than we should, but our play is so much better and I think it will continue to improve now that bones is back
